Do-it-yourself football “Making a board game Football”

Both a game and a gift

Hidden among dads and older brothers are skilled craftsmen capable of creating a unique masterpiece. A little effort and patience - and there is a sports field in front of your eyes. You can make a board game of football with your own hands for different purposes:

  • for interesting leisure;
  • for a fun present.

You need to arm yourself with the necessary materials and get to work.

General kicker and other controversial situations

The pot will have to be divided with the opponent even in the case when the common kicker appears. Usually it is played by an ace or a king, but it can also be a lower card. And the most common situation is two pairs on the table. For example, one player received Jh10c during the distribution. His opponent has Jc9s. The situation on the board at this moment is: 2h,2c,3h,3c and As. Both made two pairs - twos and threes. And for everyone, the highest card is an ace, which is also already on the table. The bank is divided equally. Suppose instead of As the fifth card on the table is 8s. The players would still have to split the winnings since both players have J as the highest card.

Requirements for a homemade table

In production conditions, furniture is tested for compliance with the quality guarantee and recommended standards. When working independently, the master himself monitors the compliance of new furniture with safety requirements:

  1. Sufficient strength. Any furniture, even decorative, must withstand the slightest load. It is especially important to check the strength of fasteners and joints on dining and student tables.
  2. Environmental safety of the materials used. You should not build a table from materials containing harmful resins or toxic impurities. Also, such compositions cannot be used for decorative processing.
  3. Moisture resistant. If the table being manufactured is intended for eating and preparing dishes, care should be taken to ensure high-quality and timely impregnation of the surfaces with appropriate compounds.
  4. Mobility, compactness, possibility of transformation. The presence of such qualities will only play into the hands of owners of small apartments, houses, and summer cottages. After being used for its intended purpose, the folding table can be stored in the pantry.

In the process of independent work, it is important to strictly follow the prepared drawing and plan, because the quality and possible service life of the future product directly depend on this parameter.

Simplified version of a soccer ball

A round ball can be made not only from a large number of paper blanks, but also from a cut out proposed diagram. Making a round craft in this way is even faster and easier. The only condition is the availability of copying equipment (printer).

Print out the diagram of the ball on white paper:

You can choose either a scheme with already drawn black pentagons or a completely white one. In place of the central parts, you can glue cut out pentagons of any color you like.

It is worth noting that the size of the finished craft directly depends on the size of the printed diagram. If you want to increase the size of the ball, then the printed material should be increased several times. And vice versa: for a small ball, a diagram on a regular A4 sheet will be enough.

A copy of a real football attribute will be great for friends and football fans. This voluminous paper craft will decorate a child’s room or a teenager’s corner.

A voluminous paper ball will be an excellent decoration for a young football player’s room. After all, it looks so much like a real soccer ball. The admiration of friends is guaranteed. And if this ball is made independently, then even more so, authority is ensured. How to make this interesting, wonderful craft? In our article we will offer you several ways to make a ball from paper. Of course, we will not be able to describe in detail all the manufacturing methods, and therefore we will focus on one, but, in our opinion, the most optimal one. A ball made using this method is more durable than other options for making a ball from paper. You can familiarize yourself with other, no less interesting types of making a paper ball in the video supplements to our article, and, based on this, choose the best method for yourself.

Options for making table football with your own hands

Since I have my own mini-workshop at home, I can make a table football out of plywood, paint it beautifully, and make it as close as possible to what is in the store, for example, this is how I made a development stand with locks. On the Internet, by the way, there are diagrams for making table football - with sizes, schemes for attaching players similar to real ones, painting options, etc. It may take about 2 days to make from wood, but I wanted to find an easier option. It will be even more wonderful if many of the readers of our site can repeat this. After all, not everyone can sit at home with a jigsaw and cut out - this requires space, materials and tools. And then one day, while looking through various options for making table football, I saw a picture where they made a table football from an ordinary cardboard box. I immediately realized “This is what I need!” True, it was made of cardboard, and this is a very short-lived material, especially if children play with it))))) Therefore, I decided to use a more durable material. So, how can you make a toy:

  1. Make a full-size football from plywood or chipboard according to the pattern
  2. Making it out of a cardboard box is the simplest version of football
  3. Make it out of the box, but choose more durable materials.

I chose option number 3 for myself. Having looked through my stocks of all kinds of boxes, I saw the one that suits me best - this is a plastic box for fruits or vegetables. You can find it near any store.

Homemade table football game

Despite the widespread dominance of computer games, board games, after some decline, have not lost their relevance and are even gaining more and more popularity.
These games include table football. Some companies and organizations even hold table football tournaments and championships. In the store “it’s quite expensive, it’s much cheaper to build it yourself, and playing it at home or in the yard with friends is no less fun. Table football is not difficult to make. Here is its general view and a drawing from which you can assemble the game from pre-planed parts. For ease of assembly, we have designated the individual parts of the game and the corresponding parts with the same letter.

a - an elastic band placed under the legs so that they do not move when playing; b - end part of the leg; c - long sidewall; g - bottom - field; d - short sidewall; e - part of the leg; g - thrust ring; h — “player” control handle.

Make a table for the game from 15 mm thick boards, fastening them together as shown in the figure. Take planks from boxes in which furniture, refrigerators or canned goods are transported. They must be carefully planed, it is best to process them with a plane and before assembling, drill holes for the handles with which you will control the players. Make table legs from the same planks. The fastening method is the simplest - with screws.

Plan round handles from slats with a section of 12x12 mm. At one end, put rubber handles made from an old hose, and in the middle, at the distances indicated in the drawing, place limiters, making them from pieces of the same rubber water hose. Materials: Boards with a thickness of 15, a width of 110 and a length of 800 mm - 2 pcs., boards with dimensions of 15x110x470 mm - 2 pcs., the same with dimensions of 700x100x20 mm - 8 pcs., round slats with a diameter of 12 mm and a length of 600 mm - 8 pcs., plywood sheet measuring 800x70 mm - 1 piece, pieces of wood and wire with a diameter of 3 mm - for making “players” and gates.

Poker table for 7 participants:

Getting plans for a poker table is quite a difficult task. The Internet is littered with a bunch of different photographs and drawings, but it is almost impossible to find any standard. Simply because everyone’s idea of poker tables is different. Some people need a table with a dealer, some for 6 people, home for the kitchen, and some for a casino. And this is all in different lengths far from cm and mm, since the respected bourgeoisie uses inches in their measurements.

This is where the technical requirements of the FSPR will come to our aid. It is by adhering to her size recommendations that we will make visual drawings, and as a result, we will build our table.

Table football (Kicker). Types and device. Peculiarities

Table football, or kicker, is a board game based on football, which is a table with figures of football players, which are controlled using a barbell. Players of this game are called kickers.

Game structure and features

The playing field is a flat area with markings, as in regular football. A side is installed along its perimeter to prevent the ball from flying out. There are 8 rods running across the field across the sides, 4 for each team. Figures of football players are attached to the rods. They are controlled by moving the bar back and forth and rotating it. The figure can only be moved along a line across the field. To perform a kick, a football player must rotate the bar.

A certain number of players are assigned to each bar:
  • The first is 1 goalkeeper.
  • The second is 2 defenders.
  • Third – 5 midfielders.
  • Fourth – 3 forwards.

During the game, kickers are located on the sides along the long sides of the field. The rods used to control their figures have handles on this side. The enemy's exiting rods do not have handles.

Since it is inconvenient to control four rods with figures, table football is usually played by 4 people, 2 for each team. One controls the goalkeeper and defense, and the second controls midfield and attack. When playing one-on-one, the dynamics are less spectacular and slower. There are tables with three levers. This is a simplified kicker, made specifically for two children to play. For the little ones there is a field with two levers, which does not have a separate goalkeeper, and 3 figures are placed on each bar.

Article on the topic: Do-it-yourself loft-style table

On sale you can also find the most simplified children's kicker on springs. In it, the figures are located across the field in a stationary position. The ball is only kicked if it rolls towards the player. In this case, the figure is pulled back by a spring and released. Only the goalkeeper is mobile on the field.

Since 2005, a kicker robot has been produced. In it, the movements of the opposing team are controlled by a computer. This allows just one person to play. The robot's skill level and reaction speed are inferior to those of humans. As a result, a skilled, experienced player loses 1 match out of 11 to the computer.

Terms in table football

Considering the specifics and limited movements of the figures in comparison with real football players, their own terms are used for the kicker. All of these are explained in the official rules enshrined in 2007 by the ITS.

The game uses the concept of long and short forward, rather than right and left. This is due to the fact that one of them is closer to the kicker, and the second is further away. The farthest one is the one located to the left on the end of the rod opposite the handle.

A forward pass between players on one line to the next is called a pass. Passing is passing the ball between figures in one line. Passing - a back pass from attack to midfield, or midfield to defense.

The term reaching the ball refers to the movement of the figure along the line of its trajectory without losing contact. The technique is used to break the opponent's concentration and pass the ball sharply.

Types of tables by field size

Tables come in a wide variety of sizes. The main abundance of playing field parameters is presented in sizes up to 4 pounds. This is considered a children's table football. The distance between the levers does not allow adults to play it comfortably. Such tables have low legs, designed for a child’s specific height. Most often, the children's playing field does not have supports. To play, it must be placed on a table or floor.

Article on the topic: DIY air hockey table

For adults, tables are considered to be 4.5 and 5 feet. They have a length of 140 cm and 152 cm respectively. These are standard convenient fields on which 4 adults can play at the same time without interfering with each other’s control of their figures.

All adult full-size fields have their own legs. They do not need to be installed on a regular table. The height of the legs can be different and is selected individually according to the height of the players. Often you can order a table of a certain height from the manufacturer. The standard is 81 cm.

What material is table football made of?

For the manufacture of kickers, materials of different quality and properties can be used. Each part of the field has its own preferences.

Table
This is the power structure of the game, which is usually made from materials:
  • Plastic.
  • Chipboard.
  • MDF.
  • Plywood.

Plastic ones are the cheapest. They are light, but highly deformed and can crack. This is a short-lived toy that you can buy for a child. The lifespan of a plastic football will be enough for children to have enough time to play before the frame begins to break. For adults and teenagers, plastic table football is absolutely not suitable.

Chipboard tables are stronger. They are more expensive and are a completely acceptable solution for amateurs. Since this is a budget option, you have to buy it disassembled. When assembling, you need to act very carefully; if you tighten the self-tapping screw incorrectly and then unscrew it, then it will not hold well in the same place again.

Tables made of MDF are many times more durable, but also heavier. They are weighty enough so that they do not move during active play due to the pushes of the players. The actual curb weight of such a table can be 25-70 kg or more.

The most reliable tables are made from plywood. They are less deformable, much stronger, and the fastenings do not come out of them. As a result, over the years of use, the field does not become loose or become skewed in one direction.

Article on the topic: DIY folding table

Field
The playing field itself with markings along which the ball rolls can be made of different materials, but most often it is:
  • Plastic.
  • Plywood.
  • Tempered glass.

The ball slides on the field, and therefore it is susceptible to active wear. For this reason, they try to make it from hard materials that do not change shape and do not bend. If a dent appears on the field, this will give an advantage to one of the players.

Plastic fields are very slippery, the ball rolls on them unnaturally, its movement is difficult to predict even for the player who controls it. Fields made from plywood are much better. They are rough enough to improve ball control. However, plywood, like plastic, can deform over time. The most durable solution is a tempered glass field. It will never change shape, so it puts all players in the same position.

Barbells and handles

Full adult size table football has rods with a diameter of 13-16 mm. They are made of metal. This can be a solid metal rod or tube. It is most reliable to use a kicker with solid rods. If a player falls on the field, they are less likely to become deformed. If the rod is bent, the control of the figures will be impaired.

Tube rods can be standard or telescopic. The latter fold at the opposite end from the handles. Thus, they do not stick out from the side of the enemy, which eliminates the risk of injury.

On the player's side, his rods have handles for easy grip. They can be made of plastic, wood or rubber. Rubber ones are considered the most successful. They don't slip, don't get hot, and don't get your hands cold.

Figures

Figurines are usually made of plastic. They are lightweight, which allows you to rotate the barbell without any problems. Usually the figures occupy an upright position of their bodies, they have no arms. There is also an option when football players from different playing zones occupy a certain optimal body position. For example, a goalkeeper puts his arms out to the sides.

Article on the topic: Do-it-yourself sand painting table

It should be noted that table football is a rather noisy game. The ball hits the figures loudly, so you can't play it at night. To solve this problem, rubber football players are produced. When the ball hits such players, there is no characteristic ringing sound.

Ball

The table football set comes with several identical balls. The budget ones are plastic and hard, causing them to slam loudly against the sides of the field. They are also difficult to manage. At professional tables, the balls have a rubberized coating, due to which they rub against the field, which makes it easier to control.

When purchasing a budget table football, it is recommended to immediately buy new high-quality balls. It is inexpensive, and the convenience of the game will increase significantly. It is important that the new shells match the standard size for the selected field. They should go through the side hole in the center of the side.

Balls are consumables. With strong impacts, they fly out of the field and can roll behind furniture or get lost. In this regard, you need to purchase them in reserve.

Equipment

When purchasing a table football in the low and middle price segment, you usually have to assemble it like a construction set, with the exception of a cheap plastic one. The table consists of a field, sides, legs and gates. The main set also includes 6 rods with handles, 22 player figures in two colors.

Additionally, the package includes:
  • Several balls.
  • Manual counters for count control.
  • Cup holders.

The table itself can be stationary or folding. The latter can be stored compactly, which is important if there is no place to permanently place the kicker. Folding tables are durable, they dangle and weigh a little, so they fidget. It is much more pleasant and practical to play non-dismountable table football.

Many manufacturers of full-size kickers offer separately the necessary components, which may require replacement during intensive use of the product. First of all, these are handles, rods and figures.

Building a soccer field out of felt

Summer is approaching, the 2016 FIFA World Cup is very soon, and the 21st FIFA World Cup is just around the corner! It's time to warm up, friends!

Football is held in high esteem in our family. The husband is a former football player, the sons grew up without parting with the ball. And the youngest still plays in the factory football team, even before the wedding, instead of a bachelor party, he had a game, and we were sick and worried in especially acute moments: “oh-oh-oh! Don’t hurt our fiance!”

My eldest’s grandchildren are growing up, and when I saw a finger football set in the store, I bought it without hesitation!

But how will they play? We need to build a football field!

You won't find a better material than felt.

I had at my disposal two sheets of 500x500 mm pistachio felt (polyester), soft and smooth to the touch - quite suitable for a tabletop lawn!

Now you need to decide on the format. It was determined by the felt sheets themselves. It was decided to take the proportions of a children's football field 40x60 m on a scale of 1:100

So, we get a playing field of 40x60 cm, plus 5 cm around the perimeter (behind the side line and goal line). The resulting canvas is 70x50cm.

Since we still need to make the middle line, this is where we will connect our two sheets. Initially, I assumed that the field would be folded along the center line and along the penalty area, so I chose adhesive interlining to connect the two parts.

But they stubbornly refused to connect end-to-end. No matter how I pinned the halves to the ironing board, during ironing they still moved apart at one end.

Now we can cut off the extra pieces behind the goal lines and start marking out our lawn.

I tested various marking methods on the cut-off areas, including stitching, and settled on a corrector - the paint adheres well, is absorbed into the felt, and the surface remains without dents or bumps - just what we need!

The ball rolls well. Let's start warming up and testing. I invited my husband, a former football player, to test. He really liked the field and immediately scored a goal against me. Yes. there are no former football players

You can't drink mastery away!

It turned out that these field sizes are the most suitable for finger play. If the field were larger, it would be difficult to place it on the table. Although you can, of course, play on the floor, but then you would have to crawl around the field on your knees.

My husband and I had fun like kids, kicking the ball around the felt field.

Now all I have to do is wait for a trip to my grandchildren to introduce them to the new game. I hope they like it too.

Fellow masters! I invite you to discuss this master class. I am sure you will give many more practical tips on how to supplement this field to make the game even more interesting.
