Tic Tac Toe

Everyone knows this game from school. However, you thought that it needed a pen and a leaf, but it can be made from wood, fabric, magnets, stones, buttons and other figures. Just get creative and create a playing field, for example, on the refrigerator or pieces of fabric in the shape of a heart.

Prepare the game board

B
from 12mm birch plywood and draw a center line on one side.
2. Using double-sided tape, attach template A to game board B, placing it with the “1” side facing up and aligning its center mark with the line on the board. Use clamps to secure the game board with the template on the workbench.

3. Install a copy sleeve with an outer diameter of 16 mm into the base of the plunge router and secure a 12 mm semicircular cutter in the collet. We recommend taking a cutter with a 12 mm shank (see “Tip from the Expert”). Using a 6mm piece of hardboard with a 16mm hole, adjust the routing depth so that the bit penetrates 5mm into the board material.

Master's advice

For best results, choose a router bit with a 12mm shank. Our first attempts to mill out the ball holes in the game board resulted in numerous chips (top photo). Replacing a semicircular cutter with a shank with a diameter of 6 mm with the same cutter, but with a shank with a diameter of 12 mm (lower photo) helped to get rid of them almost completely. Why? The thicker the shank, the less it bends and vibrates during operation.

4. Mill out all the indentations on one half of the game board (photo B) . Remove the clamps, separate the template and remove the tape. Now turn the template over so that the side marked “2” is facing up and attach it to the other half of the board (Photo C) . The center mark of the template should line up with the line on the board, and the first row of template holes should be positioned above the center row of indentations you just made. Secure the board with the template with clamps on the workbench and mill out the remaining holes.

Aligning the center marks of the template and the game board, mill 12mm holes to a depth of 5mm on one half of the game board.

Turning the template over, place the first row of its holes above the central row of finished holes.

5. Now sand the game board with 220 grit sandpaper until the center line disappears. Then mark out the sectors of the playing field, paint them and apply a finishing coating, as described in the article “Multi-colored finishing”.

Go to the body

C and side D from 12mm oak planks . Having installed a dial-type groove disk and an anti-splinter insert into the saw machine, make tongues 12 mm wide and 6 mm deep on the inner sides of all walls (Fig. 1).

Temporary overlays on the longitudinal and transverse stops prevent chipping when cutting folds in the side walls D.

2. On the front wall C , mark the opening for the sliding tray (Fig. 1) and cut it out with a band saw or jigsaw. Remove all sawing marks using a block wrapped in sandpaper.

3. To form corner joints, cut out folds 12 mm wide and 6 mm deep D (Fig. 1, photo D ).

4. Finish sand the front, back and side walls C, D with 220-grit sandpaper. Assemble the body by gluing the walls together and inserting the game board B . (Birch plywood is a relatively stable material, and you can safely glue the game board into dowels.)

Travel around the world walking game

This game can be played by 2 to 6 people. You will need a "card", a die and chips. Each player rolls a digital die in turn, gets a number and takes the required number of steps along the map. The winner is the one who gets to the finish line first, and the catch is that there are numbers on the map that return the player a few steps back, or move him forward.

The main process is to create a map. Lay out 8 A4 sheets in 2 rows, leaving half a centimeter gaps so that you can fold the card later. Place a weight on each sheet to prevent it from moving, then tape the sheets along each row. Draw a route of moves with a pencil and arrange stops, for example (1-60 or 1-90), between each stop, make a distance of 2-3 cm. Mark bonus and penalty steps, indicate the direction with arrows. Fill in the empty spaces on the map with pictures. A digital cube can be purchased at an office supply store or made from cardboard. For chips, use small Kinder Surprise toys, buttons, small cookies...

How to create a board game for players of different ages: the nuances of creation

An idea is great, but one is not enough. To successfully implement the idea, you need to focus on the age of the players. This is an important factor: children will not understand what to do with an economic toy, and older children may find the children's version not so interesting and dynamic.

It makes sense to consider board games popular in Russia PHOTO: 20th.su

Next, you should select the dimensions of the product. If this is an option for kids, then the parts should be large, because the field will be located on the floor. But the teenage scale will be smaller and more detailed.

There are many options for teenagers PHOTO: lordofboards.com.ua

Any gaming product is created according to the following scheme:

  1. Idea.
  2. Taking into account age nuances.
  3. Sketch.
  4. Search and selection of materials.
  5. Manufacturing.

Advice! First you should test the sketch, in this case it will be possible to provide for all the little details and eliminate shortcomings before creating the final version.

After making adjustments, you can continue to work, creating a gaming miracle.

Making a board game with your own hands for preschool children

Preschool children prefer large or medium-sized games. These can be field adventures, simple quests, puzzles. Field adventures are created for children aged 5-6 years. You can even involve them in creating the game, at least listen to their wishes and ideas, and let them play it!

Bulk products are received with a bang by kids PHOTO: gretahome.ru

Adventure games consist of a field painted with paths and pictures, chips and one or two cubes.

The field requires cardboard. But the plot itself can be applied directly to the base with felt-tip pens or separately on paper, and then glue it to the base.

Adventure games are the easiest to make PHOTO: golos.io

Shooters complicate the gameplay, making it more fun. Using arrows of different colors, you can jump to other circles and go back. Or you can introduce an element of surprise by marking some areas with a different color. By standing on this field, the player must receive a prize or sing a song, and perhaps receive a kiss from his parents.

Puzzles are popular with younger and older children. For kids 3-4 years old, you can make them soft from felt or make cardboard analogues.

Puzzles can be very simple PHOTO: razvivashkidoma.rf

This is the kind of board game for kids that you can even print out. The printed picture is pasted onto cardboard and cut into parts, and the second same image serves as a “helper”.

What about older children: how to make a board game with your own hands for schoolchildren

Schoolchildren need more varied games. You can use different materials to create a gaming product and actively involve the children themselves.

For example, Memory Cards is another DIY board game that you can simply print and cut.

The memory game is made from paper, cardboard, felt, and can lids PHOTO: youtube.com

This is an excellent gaming material for training memory and attention. You need to make a large number of images, but in pairs: each image is repeated once. All images are turned face down, and then a pair is found for the open picture. One move allows you to open only two pictures, but if they are the same, the pair is removed and the move continues.

For schoolchildren, you can take the game “crocodile”, but in a simplified version, and also introduce them to any traditional games, for example, checkers. Checkers can be made from pebbles or buttons, and a checkered field can be drawn using a ruler and paints.

What teenagers play: suitable DIY board games

Teenagers willingly join the “mafia.” You need to download the cards of this board game and print them. You need to read the rules carefully, choose a driver and get a lot of positive emotions!

Interesting board games for the whole family that you can make yourself

Exciting gaming products for the whole family include those that are universally suitable for everyone. Parents will be interested in teaching their children and playing with them, but the rules should be simple and understandable to both the youngest member of the family and everyone else.

The family can make many games with their own hands, such as chess from Legos, checkers from any materials, travel games through fairy tales or science, twister, ladders.

You can also use regular film as a base. PHOTO: veseliebydni.blogspot.com

Puzzles

You can create a geographic puzzle to explore the country. Buy or print an outline map, color each area with a different color (in addition, you can indicate clues - sea, mountains, attractions...), then glue the map onto a thick sheet of cardboard, cut it into squares or other shapes.

It is also very easy to create another puzzle. Collect 7-10 popsicle sticks and cut out a suitable picture from a magazine or draw it yourself. Place the sticks on a flat surface next to each other, stick the picture, wait until the glue dries and cut the sticks. Attach Velcro to the back of each stick so you can later attach the puzzle to the felt.

New checkers with your own hands

Perhaps the easiest option to start with is to replace the boring standard figures with unusual ones.
Any objects that are suitable in size can fight according to well-known rules on a checkered board; if necessary, they are painted in two contrasting colors. Buttons, plastic bottle caps, halves of nutshells, Lego pieces.

Children will learn an important principle: it is not necessary to do everything always in the usual way; getting out of a well-worn rut is easy and interesting.

Such a discovery will later be useful not only for creating games at home.

A place for an inscription or sticker on the surface of each checker will serve as a stimulus for imagination. We enter the numbers and determine the winner based on the points earned; even if you are left without a single piece, you can become a winner if you collect a lot of “expensive” trophies. To get kids excited about checkers, we glue images of grasshoppers, rabbits or kangaroos to each one. We play “grasshopper leapfrog” according to the usual rules: the animal wins by jumping over the enemy.

Alias

Another name for the game is “say otherwise.” The idea is simple: from 4 to 16 people play. Participants are divided into teams. A team can have 2,3,4 people. One of them pulls out a card on which 8-10 words are written, each word must be explained in other words, you can use sounds (for example: woof-woof, meow...) you cannot show and use words of the same root. You have 1 minute for 1 card, you need to quickly guess as many words as possible. You can make add-on cards on which emotions or instructions will be written. During the explanation, the person must be happy, or vice versa, sad, and the team must additionally guess the emotion and action that the explainer is doing. The team with the most guessed words wins. This game perfectly develops logical thinking and increases vocabulary.

Cut out cards from cardboard and beautifully write commonly used words, for example: soup, ice, monkey, enemy, sweet, photograph... There should be at least 30 cards with 10 words written on them. Words should not be repeated.

You can create a playing field for aliases. Mark the steps on it and make chips. The principle of creation is described in the game around the world. However, you can play without a field, just appoint a judge who will count the points and record the time.

Remember the slogan “Do it yourself”!

When choosing ideas for games, we take as a basis something that has been tested for centuries, like chess, or an original idea from the Internet, and add our own twist. In creating a homemade item, you can and should include your own, family, personal – names, events, dates, hobbies, this is the difference from a “store-bought” item and a special charm.

Modern tools will help give your craft a look no less attractive than a professional product: bright paints, felt-tip pens, different types of paper. Many people have a color printer, it would seem: print and play. This is possible, but it is better to use printouts as material for creativity and a source of inspiration.

Fleas

This is a very fun game played by 2 people. I press the edge of the bean with a coin and it jumps like a flea. The main task is to hit the enemy's goal with the flea, then you get a point and the flea is removed from the field. If a flea lands on your field, you can pick it up and use it next time; if a flea lands on your opponent’s field, the point is not counted and it simply remains lying there until the next turn. If the flea hits its own goal, the point is awarded to the opponent. The game continues until someone runs out of fleas.

To make a playing field, take a candy box, colored paper and thick fabric. Cover the inside of the box with colored paper and make fabric sides to prevent fleas from flying away. Use beans as fleas and don’t forget about large coins.

Recommendations on how to download and print the board game

If you want to play immediately, then board games can be downloaded for free.

There are several resources that have different options for such fun.

You can print any games in the form of pictures using a printer and print breakdown PHOTO: i1.shapescience.ru.net

There are also special resources, a number of games on which are downloaded completely free of charge, in a format convenient for printing. For many products, in addition to the playing field, a number of related elements are required.

Some elements require additional assembly, which is even more interesting PHOTO: gamedev.ru

Additional elements often form the basis of games, so it is better to use a color printer PHOTO: lifestyleltd.ru

Memory game

This game involves from 2 to 10 people. 16 cards are produced. Every two cards contain the same images. One person lays out the cards in a square in a chaotic order with the pattern facing up, while at the same time the person who will play stands with his back turned. He turns for exactly 5 seconds and tries to remember the images. It is turned away and the cards are turned over to the other side. Now he must turn over the cards and find pairs within a minute. The person who guesses the largest number of pairs with the same pictures wins. Cards can be made from cardboard and any drawings can be drawn.

Fun for learning

When working with children, fun is extremely important. Special Velcro games will help parents teach reading lessons. They make a list of 10 - 12 two-syllable nouns that are well known to the child (fish, spoon), and select a colorful image for each. Syllables are written in large print or printed on cards.

All parts are provided with pieces of Velcro so that they are held on a dense base, covered with fleecy fabric or equipped with the same Velcro. They post a picture, next to it is the corresponding word, under it is the next one, and then all the others. The child looks at the pictures and “reads” the syllables. After which the second syllables are removed and mixed, and the baby tries to return them to the correct places.

For schoolchildren, educational games such as “Alias” are recommended, an activity useful for thinking and speaking. The “inventory” is simple: 30 tablets with 8–10 nouns written on each. The task can be taken from the pile without looking or obtained using a cube, a chip and a field with written numbers.

One of the team members explains to the other participants the meaning of the received words using various phrases and gestures. The more successful guesses out of ten, the more points the team gets. There are varieties of Alias that adults enjoy playing, so we can safely classify it as a board game for the whole family.

Educational games for kids

Children's play is not always about interaction. Some activities help the child feel independent, develop the ability to rely on their own strengths, and trust themselves. An adult can be an assistant, explain the rules or logic of actions.

Puzzles

A picture cut into several parts teaches a child to find a connection between a part and the whole and develops imaginative thinking. The smallest children need large, simple pictures of three or four parts. The older the child, the more details there can be in the drawing and the more parts need to be assembled into a single whole.

To make it easier for little fingers to operate, stick the pictures on thick cardboard. From multi-layer cardboard you can cut out parts with grooves and protrusions, like on real puzzles.
