Loop by loop
This technique is good for making hanging decorations, for example, for the New Year, Women's Day, Harvest Festival. These could be snowflakes, flowers, leaves or shapes of vegetables and fruits.
Simple and beautiful three-dimensional crafts from strips of paper are made by connecting modules of different sizes. To do this, sheets of colored or white paper are cut into strips of the same width but different lengths. The ends of each strip are glued together to form loops of various sizes.
If smaller loops need to be placed inside larger ones, then the longer strips are glued with their ends to the place where the shorter ones are glued, forming larger loops on top of the smaller ones, and the finished model is assembled from the resulting complex parts.
The loops of more complex crafts can be connected either sequentially or by alternating the upper position of the arc with the lower one. In order not to lose the original geometric basis, during assembly you can use a contour drawn on paper or a cut out template.

Thread after needle
Beautiful and easy-to-make bookmarks for books and notebooks are obtained if a wide strip is folded twice lengthwise so that the width of the outer sectors, glued along the edge, matches the width of the central one. A column of slots of the same length is made in it, located at the same distance from each other.
A narrow strip of paper of a contrasting color is pulled through these slits in a manner reminiscent of a running stitch. Its ends are decorated, giving them the shape of an arrow or a flag.
If you want to complicate the product, make it more elegant, you can pull not one, but three stripes through the base, arranging the slots in a checkerboard pattern. The ends of these “strings” can be hidden under the base, decorated with flowers or stars separately or connected to each other. The latter method is also good for more detailed plot crafts. For example, several rows of strips drawn through a template base can imitate fish scales, bird plumage and wings, a patchwork rug, etc.
Dog
To make a dog, several strips should be glued to a circle to create a body. The head, tail and paws are cut out separately. The peculiarity of the design is that, if desired, the head can be replaced using different breeds of dogs.
Volume of applique crafts
Creating a pattern by gluing multi-colored pieces of fabric or paper - applique. Making a three-dimensional applique craft is not an easy task. However, having the initial simple skills to create such images, you can engage in such creativity.
If you devote a little time to activities with your baby every day, then little by little, without much difficulty, he will master this technique and independently “create” to the delight of himself and those around him. For such crafts, you need to stock up on colorful paper, glue, scissors, cardboard and a stencil. Good luck.
Rooster
To create a cockerel, several strips are glued to thick paper. The body is given an elongated shape. The craft is completed with feathers, a comb and a beak. All parts of the corresponding colors are attached to the base. The final result is bright and colorful, thanks to the selection of shades.
Features of corrugated paper
Corrugation is an excellent material for creating unique crafts. This paper has a number of characteristic features that distinguish it from similar materials.
These properties include:
- A peculiar density of the structure.
- Practicality.
- Low cost.
- Lightness and softness.
- The ability to simply and quickly change shape.
- Possibility of production from unnecessary waste paper and recyclable materials.
- Environmental safety.
- Admissibility of drawing and inscription.
- Light weight.
All the advantages of corrugated paper allow you to create a large number of crafts and compositions using a minimum of tools.
Paper weaving
A technique that has long been mastered, but is not losing popularity, is various types of paper weaving. They differ from each other in materials and degrees of complexity. For some, you need color, and for others, newspaper.
In both cases, if the work is done carefully and correctly, the craft will look impressive and will be a wonderful home decoration or gift to a friend.
Basket
To make it, you need to take the same (even) number of strips of two different colors and weave them together in a checkerboard pattern, forming the bottom. The number of strips depends on their thickness and the planned size of the basket.
Having finished working on the bottom part, bend the free part of the strips up. Cut strips whose length slightly exceeds the length of the bottom perimeter. Weave them in, alternating colors, until the walls are of the desired height.
The ends of the woven strips are fixed with paper clips or glued together. When finishing the work, bend the edges of the strips inward and glue them. The handle of the basket can be made in the shape of a pigtail.
Snail
Another option for simple crafts that can be made from lines. From purple paper you need to cut one long line, the other much shorter. Roll them into rings. The large ring should have a twist inside.
Also don't forget to cut out the horns and glue them to the head. Using a marker, draw eyes and a mouth.
Funny owl
The main color is light brown. Several tapes are glued to the circle, they form a circle. The body should be exactly round, without oblongs. The craft is decorated with paws and wings made of yellow paper. White circles are used for the eyes, the pupils are drawn in with a black felt-tip pen.
Lesson for adults
Have you ever seen intricate panels, postcards and photo frames made of intricately curved curls? What about openwork boxes, napkin holders and decorative vases and tea sets made of tightly twisted spirals?
All of these are crafts made from thin strips of paper, or quilling. A technique that involves twisting paper using a thin base - an awl, needle, knitting needle, rod and creating modules of various shapes from them by pulling and pinching individual loops.
Traditional modules are “spiral”, “oval”, “square”, “rhombus”, “semicircle”, “drop”, “eye”, “leaf”, “month”, “wing”, “foot”, “arrow” and "tulip". These modules are called closed forms. Most often, their ends are fixed with glue. Open and combined spirals do not require fixation.Having prepared the required number of modules, they are glued to the base or to each other, creating the desired shape or image corresponding to the sketch. This work requires increased attention and cannot be rushed.
However, the result can delight even experienced craftsmen. It’s not for nothing that in ancient times this art was considered the art of kings!
If your imagination requires something unknown, feel free to arm yourself with scissors, paper and glue and experiment. Perhaps, thanks to you, a new technique will be born that allows you to create something beautiful from ordinary paper strips.
Weaving from newspaper tubes
Complex, beautiful, surprisingly naturalistic and very practical products are made from materials that are sometimes considered useless, called recycled materials.
Old newspapers are actually flexible, malleable and easy to use. To work, it needs to be cut lengthwise into strips about 9 cm thick. Each strip is wound onto a knitting needle located to the paper fabric at an angle of 45 - 60°. Secure the end with glue.
The number of tubes depends on the size of the product. You can weave them into a basket, box, decorative shoe or bast shoe. Products made in this way are painted with acrylic or tempera in several layers.
Weaving tubes can also be made from old magazines, cash register tapes or office paper. They will differ in density and rigidity. This technique cannot be called simple, because in order to make such crafts from strips of paper with your own hands, you will need not only a certain skill, but also a lot of patience and perseverance.
