| We all periodically want updates, and updates in almost everything: in clothes, in the house and even in work. An original, creative glass for pens and pencils can easily update the look of your desktop, and, of course, lift your spirits. I propose to make this cute and useful little thing using a minimum of materials that can be found in everyone’s home. To work you need to prepare: 1. Cardboard cylinder from foil or film; 2. Peas (split into halves); 3. PVA glue and pencil glue; 4. Sheet of cardboard; 5. Compass; 6. Simple pencil; 7. Green corrugated paper; 8. Scissors; 9. Yellow acrylic paint; 10. Ladybugs for decoration.
To glue corrugated paper, it is best to use pencil glue; it prevents the thin paper from getting wet and does not deform it. Also, to hide the seams between the leaves, glue a small piece of corrugated paper folded in half to the bottom of the cup. This is what the glass should look like. If you wish, you can slightly decorate our corn cup by sticking a couple of bright ladybugs on it. We use plastic and metal jars
Jars for canned food, coffee or tea are, so to speak, classics. In the bottom of each container you need to drill a couple of drainage holes (preferably from the inside), and to make it easier to remove young plants, you can additionally make cuts on the walls. If the cups will be used for several seasons, instead of making cuts, it is better to place a strip of polyethylene or thick paper on the bottom - this way you can remove the earthen lump without damaging the root system (you just need to pull this strip). Cut-off beer cans, toilet paper, PET bottles and much more can be used in the same way, but more on that later.

How to make a summer craft “Lemonade”

The work was completed for the competition by Anna (6 years old) and her mother Yana from Armavir.

Using a paper cup
There are different options for using such a vessel made using the origami technique. The first is to add a thread to the side of the product using a needle, on which to place a button. This way you get a game called “sniper” - this is an analogue of the French “bilboke”. There is only one goal - to throw a button into a glass.
If at the end of folding such a cup the triangle is bent not outward, but inward, then you can get a whole puppet theater for your fingers. Just draw animal faces on it, glue ears and other attributes.
You can make an aquarium from such vessels, decorated like fish and other representatives of the underwater animal world.
If you make holes in a simple glass with a hole punch and cut the triangle into a semicircle, you will get a nice product, and the shape of the semicircle and the uniformity of the holes transform it:

An alternative option is to make nutritional cubes
To make such cubes we prepare:
- 1 turf soil;
- 5 - humus.
There is another option:
- 1 part humus;
- 3 - peat.
How to make peat cubes
Mix the prepared ingredients, and add ammonium nitrate (15 g per 1 kg), potassium sulfate, superphosphate (50 g per 1 kg) to the resulting mixture. In addition, add water - such an amount that the finished mixture has a creamy consistency. We place all this in a tray in a layer 80-100 mm thick, and then cut it into cubes of the required sizes. You can move the cubes a little away from each other to make it easier to work with. At the end we sow the seeds.

As a result, we note that regardless of what kind of cups you use, they must be rigid, spacious enough, with low thermal conductivity and opaque walls. In addition, you should take care of drainage - it will protect the plants from excess moisture. If all these requirements are taken into account, the seedlings will grow healthy and strong, and adult plants will definitely delight you with a rich harvest or abundant flowering!

The cost of one machine depends on the manufacturer; the main suppliers of equipment are the USA, Korea, China. High-quality equipment will cost about one million rubles. The machines also vary in power; the maximum production speed reaches 250 cups per minute.
Cars made in China can be bought for about 600,000 rubles. But they are not of good quality and high power.
Their performance is maximum 80 units per minute. They often break down and require repairs. Therefore, it is more advisable to purchase high-quality and powerful equipment.
An ordinary coffee glass can be used as an excellent advertisement. If you make them with a logo, the cost of production increases significantly. One offset printing machine will cost from 500,000 to 2,500,000 rubles. The advantages of this method are the same as those described above - the bushings are an environmentally friendly material, they do not contain foreign impurities, so seedlings can be planted in the ground without removing them from the cups (the latter will rot in the ground without a trace). If the cups will be used for large plants, we can use whole bushings; in other cases, they (the bushings) can be cut in half. The manufacturing process itself is not complicated.

How many glasses does a city with a population of 1 million people need?
There are about 500 coffee shops in a city of 1 million people. Each consumes about 6,000 glasses per month. This is 36 million glasses/year. If we also take into account various street food festivals, fairs and concerts, then the city’s consumption can be estimated at about 50 million glasses a year. The average cost of a glass is 2 rubles. in total we get 100 million rubles - the annual turnover of paper cups in a city with a population of 1 million people.
As we can see, there is demand in the market. And it is only increasing. There is reason to think about producing cups for coffee shops in your city or town.
From a tin can
Not every household waste needs to be thrown away immediately. Some of them may acquire a second, completely uncharacteristic life for them. For example, you can make an original pencil cup from a used tin can.
You will need:
- empty tin can;
- a piece of linen or canvas fabric;
- transparent PVA glue;
- decorative tape;
- decorative element (flower, accessories, etc.).
- Rinse the can and remove the paper label if there is one.
- Using a file, sand down the sharp edges where the can was opened.
- Take a piece of linen fabric or decorative canvas tape and cover the jar with clear PVA glue.
- Glue decorative tape to the top of the jar over the base fabric.
- Glue a flower to the center of the front of the jar.
This is just an approximate working algorithm. Using various materials, you can create absolutely unique cups.
