A clock from a hard drive in a couple of hours. How to make a clock, mirror or safe from an old HDD

Consumables:

  • Old hard drive. I was lucky enough to find the 5.25 inch (13 cm) model. Any other one, larger or smaller, will do just as well.
  • The clock mechanism is from a local hardware store. It’s better if you find one with the longest possible shaft. The ones I bought had a 1.9 cm rod, which suited the design just perfectly.
  • I also used an old IDE cable to reinforce the bottom of the clock. You'll also have to get creative if you want to attach your clock to the wall.
  • A case of your favorite beer to celebrate the outcome of the project.
