4 ways to make a false fireplace with your own hands: step-by-step instructions

The desire for comfort and coziness is inherent in each of us. The warmth of a home is not an empty word. What could be better than spending evenings by the fireplace watching the flames? Owners of private houses can afford a real fireplace, but for residents of city apartments this, unfortunately, is an unaffordable luxury. But for real masters nothing is impossible, and today we will tell you how to make a false fireplace in an apartment.

What is a false fireplace and why is it needed?

In a city apartment, conditions will not allow you to install a regular fireplace. The lack of chimneys and floors not designed for such loads are the main obstacles to obtaining permission to build such a structure. False fireplaces come to the rescue, which you can easily assemble yourself without having any special skills in construction work.

Of course, you can buy an electric fireplace - such devices are now common, and their installation will not take much time and effort. But creating a fireplace with your own hands is a very exciting activity; it gives free rein to your imagination and allows you to create an exclusive thing. In addition, an open fire in an apartment is not necessary (and you are unlikely to be allowed to do so), and a false fireplace will serve as a multifunctional decoration.

Note! Although you won't light a fire in a false fireplace, still don't put flammable things underneath. Especially if the structure covers heating radiators or you plan to place electrical appliances in the firebox.

False fireplace looks like a real one

Artificial fireplaces have the following advantages:

  • low cost - you only need money for materials;
  • availability of materials necessary for the manufacture of the structure;
  • the ability to change the decor at any time according to your mood;
  • use of inexpensive, but original and beautiful materials in decoration.

False fireplaces are divided into 3 groups:

  1. Reliable artificial fireplaces completely imitate real ones, respecting both dimensions and design principles. Inside the firebox you can install a bio-fireplace burner, which will provide an almost exact effect of a burning hearth. Quite an expensive option, but it looks the most plausible.
  2. Conventional false fireplaces have a portal protruding from the wall. They can be decorated according to your taste and desire. The combustion hole is usually filled with firewood or candles are placed there.
  3. Symbolic ones can be made from any materials. Their peculiarity is that they are not at all like an ordinary fireplace. It could even be a drawing made on the wall with some decorative elements.

Drawing of the future fireplace

So, we decided on the source material: it will be a chipboard from the cabinet. Now let's talk about the size of the boards that will need to be cut. In order not to fully describe the cutting process and dimensions, I am attaching a photograph with a drawing of the future fireplace.

Drawing of a decorative fireplace

Drawing description:

  1. The width of the tabletop is 100 cm.
  2. The length of the tabletop is 25 cm.
  3. The height of the side, rear and front boards is 115 cm.
  4. The width of the fireplace is 95 cm.
  5. The length of the fireplace on the side is 22 cm.
  6. The width of the facing boards on the sides is 30 cm.
  7. The width of the front center is 35 cm at the top, height 45 cm.
  8. The width of the front center - bottom - 35 cm, height 30 cm.
  9. The dimensions of the “firebox” are width 35 cm, height 45 cm.
  10. Internal wall 1 - width 15 cm, height 40 cm.
  11. Inner wall 2 - width 15 cm, length 35 cm.

In the next photo you can see a cabinet that was disassembled and taken to the garage where my husband cut the boards into its constituent structural elements.

An old cabinet is an excellent material for a fireplace.

You can cut the elements that will make up the future fireplace using an electric jigsaw, but please note that all elements must be clearly marked using a pencil and a ruler (you do not need to rely on your eye). By the way, if it is difficult for you to cut the boards yourself, then you can order the elements from a furniture factory after providing the dimensions. If you bring your own boards, it will be cheaper, about 200 rubles per element.

Manufacturing options

To make artificial fireplaces, the simplest materials are used, which can always be found not only in the store, but also at home:

You can make such a structure even from old furniture that has already served its purpose, but it would be a shame to throw it away.

Fireplace made of polyurethane

This is the easiest and fastest way. You only need to buy a polyurethane portal for the fireplace. The most difficult thing in this task will be choosing the style and size suitable for the room, and everything else will take you a minimum of time and effort.

If you want to install an electric fireplace, consider its installation and overall dimensions, the method of connection to the electrical network and the quality of ventilation.

The lightweight body of the false fireplace made of polyurethane will save you from many installation hassles

  • polyurethane portal for the fireplace;
  • contact glue;
  • putty;
  • materials for finishing the firebox (for example, decorative brick).

Now we’ll tell you step by step how to install such a fireplace.

  1. The best place to install such a fireplace is one of the side walls of the room. The structure should not clutter the room or interfere with passage.
  2. If you decide to place an electric fireplace or decorative electric lighting inside the portal, take care of the wiring and socket first.
  3. Make the firebox frame from profiles or wooden blocks, and the walls from plywood or plasterboard.
  4. Install the portal, carefully secure it with contact glue. Carefully fill the gaps between the portal and the firebox with finishing putty.
  5. Finish the firebox in the style you choose, or install an electric fireplace. If desired, you can install a mantel made of artificial stone or wood.

Such portals are made not only from polyurethane, but also from wood. They are much more expensive, but among them you can find real masterpieces, additionally equipped, for example, with a built-in bar.

Plywood construction

This idea is useful if you need to hide some defect in the room, for example, an old heating radiator, the replacement of which will not be cheap. A false fireplace will come in handy here.

The need to cover up an old heating radiator is an excellent opportunity to install a false fireplace

Carry out calculations and make a drawing of the future structure. This will help you avoid wasting extra money and time.

Drawing of a standard fireplace

Note! When you develop a drawing, refer to ready-made options for stone fireplaces. Based on them, you can easily design your false fireplace.

First of all, install the frame directly in place. Wooden blocks are suitable for it.

Frame made of bars for a false fireplace

Next, cover the frame with plywood. The design of the fireplace and its appearance can be adjusted during operation. For example, you can add a podium to the portal. There is a heating battery inside the structure, so it is better to assemble the frame with screws: nails in high temperature conditions do not guarantee a tight fit of the plywood to the bars in the future.

Frame covered with plasterboard

Along the back wall, attach a firebox that imitates a fireplace to a block. Cover all surfaces visible from the outside with self-adhesive film.

Install the firebox and cover it with film

Cover the corners of the portal with a wooden layout, and cover it with film of the same color.

The corners of the portal need to be closed and also covered with film.

This design is easily removable (it is not attached to the wall at this stage), and you can easily access the radiator. The firebox needs to be decorated with something, so you can put a metal mesh tray on the radiator.

A metal mesh tray that will become the bottom of the firebox

You will fill it with pebbles, firewood or other decorative elements.

Fill the metal mesh with pebbles or other filler.

You can order a fireplace grate or make it yourself. For this you will need a copper profile. If this is not available, aluminum wire inserted into a vinyl chloride tube and painted with gold paint will do. This grille is attached to the fireplace body with copper wire in 4 places.

Metal grating diagram

The pipes that go to the battery can be covered with an extension of the podium.

Cover the heating pipes with a podium

So that useful space does not go to waste, create a bar under the fireplace mantel.

Using extra space

As a result, you will get a fireplace like this, almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

Where is the best place to install the fireplace?

Before starting work, you need to decide on the type of structure. She may be:

  • Stationary. A frame made of wooden blocks or metal profiles is attached to the wall. This allows you to make narrow and tall elements. They take up minimal space, but the process of moving products to a new location is very labor-intensive.
  • Attached. Requires a broader, fundamental basis. At the same time, he can move freely to any point in the apartment. And if necessary, it can easily be transported to another house.

The location of the portal for a decorative fireplace is chosen based on aesthetic preferences and practical benefits.

  • On a free wall. An improvised hearth can serve as an independent decoration. Visually complements the interior if placed under the mirror. The upper part serves as a shelf for hygiene items. Stationary models are used instead of a TV stand.
  • In the corner. Most often, with this arrangement, heating risers are closed. The structure is made up to the ceiling, and for stability it is permanently attached to the wall. It is important to leave access to threaded pipe connections that require regular maintenance.
  • In front of the radiator. It is very difficult to decorate a radiator on a blank end wall with furniture. It's easier to decorate it. In this case, the hearth must be attached. To maintain the circulation of warm air, a convection grill is inserted into the improvised firebox or lid.

Finishing

It is very important that the fireplace fits harmoniously into the interior of the room. You should carefully choose the style and color. But in addition, decorative finishing should please the eye and create comfort.

How to simulate fire in a fireplace? Above, we offered options with LED strip, which provides illumination with a burning effect. But progress does not stand still, and an electronic photo frame can serve you well. It is a liquid crystal display that is designed to display pictures. You need a model that can play animated files, such as GIFs. Upload an image of a burning fire to your photo frame and enjoy!

An electronic photo frame with a picture of a burning fire will help you revive your false fireplace

  • Many owners of false fireplaces love to decorate niches with candles of different heights. It looks beautiful, stylish, and gives a real live fire.
  • An excellent choice would be to install a mirror deep in the combustion chamber, on the wall. The mirror will multiply the reflections from candles or electric lighting and add mystery to the fireplace.
  • Artificial stone will help you achieve the effect of an expensive finish. It is available in a variety of color and texture options. Tiles, bas-reliefs and decorative tiles will add expressive individuality to the structure. But don’t overdo it: excessive pomp may be out of place in your interior.
  • Doors for false fireplaces will probably be superfluous, but if you decide to install them, make them from plexiglass. They can be transparent or tinted, but they simply must allow light and glare of the “fire” to pass through.
  • It is better to decorate the firebox of an imitation fireplace with a forged metal grate. It can be bought or ordered from the workshop.

Practical and cute laundry basket without sewing or weaving

An original, spacious laundry basket can become not only a practical organizer, but also a decorative item. It is noteworthy that you do not need sewing or weaving skills to create it. Sizes may also vary. This allows calculations to be based on how much material is available. The height, width and even shape of the basket can be different. At the same time, the manufacturing technique and maneuverability of the finished basket will remain unchanged.

To implement the idea you will need:

  • corrugated packaging cardboard
  • jute twine
  • lining fabric
  • 4 furniture wheels
  • glue gun

Having determined the height of the future basket, we cut out a piece of cardboard of the appropriate height for the base.

Thanks to the bends made, it is easy to assemble the workpiece into a pipe and give it a rounded shape. Having joined the sides, glue them together and let them dry.

We glue the body around the perimeter, apply the bottom and press it well.

After the bottom is well glued to the base, we trim off the excess cardboard using a regular stationery knife. Taking the twine, we lay it along the junction of the base and the bottom, generously lubricating the surface in a circle.

We continue to move in a spiral, making turn after turn. Here it is not necessary to lay the glue in a continuous line; it is enough to additionally fix the twine from time to time. We continue to work until the body is completely covered. Having reached the last turn, we make a smooth transition. To do this, unwind the twine and remove some of the threads.

The only element that will have to be woven is the handles. This can be done using the principle of crocheting a chain or the same way as braids. Handles can have different heights. To securely fasten them, they must be sewn on using a large needle and strong thread. From the outside, the stitches are easy to hide under the weaving, and from the inside they will not be visible after the basket is completed with a cover.

We add wheels to the bottom to ensure the mobility of the basket.

We trim the blank for the lid. It is important that it does not protrude beyond the edges of the housing.

From a suitable fabric or self-adhesive, we cut out the workpiece, taking into account the allowances. We make cuts in a circle without removing the template, and then fold and glue the excess fabric to the base. We form a handle from a small piece of jute or loose twine and glue it clearly in the center.

Liberally lubricating the surface of the lid with glue, lay the twine in a circle, moving in the direction from the center.

Knowing the dimensions of the basket, making a cover will not be difficult. To do this, it is enough at the preparation stage to cut a piece of fabric similar to the base, making small allowances on all sides. Another blank will correspond in size to the bottom, also taking into account allowances. Then you just need to glue the bottom to the base and seal it on the side along the entire length. If desired, you can connect the parts using a sewing machine.

Having straightened the cover with the gluing points inward, glue it in a circle with a slight bend.

The basket is ready. It can be used to store towels, bedding or linen awaiting ironing.

Owners of country houses can please themselves with a warm and cozy fireplace right in the living room. It is not possible to have a real working fireplace in a city apartment. As an alternative, you can install a DIY false fireplace.

Not a single housing inspection will give permission to install a real fireplace, because the apartment does not have a chimney, and in general, lighting an open fire is prohibited. In addition, the floors of high-rise buildings are not designed for such a load. You can buy a ready-made electric fireplace - but such a pleasure is very expensive.

We create a fireplace for an electric fireplace ourselves

How to make an electric fireplace with your own hands, step-by-step instructions for which include dividing into several blocks? Let's look into this issue. After the portal and logs have been created, you should think about making the heart of the electric fireplace - the hearth.

You can make a fireplace for an electric fireplace with your own hands, both ordinary and with the effect of a live fire. You can make ordinary hearths with your own hands from scrap materials. For example, candles, fabric, wire, tree branches.

We recommend that you study the material on how to decorate a fireplace for the New Year with your own hands and find answers to your questions.

Hearth of many candles

Lots of candles will create the illusion of a burning flame. Candles are located at different heights and distances from each other. The disadvantage of this imitation is that the candles smoke.

The hearth is located in the fireplace portal. Fire is simulated by many candles

An original hearth made of tree branches, fabric and LED bulbs

  • You can buy an LED lamp socket that shimmers with red and yellow colors in a chaotic manner.
  • Lay out the base from tree branches in the shape of a well and glue it with construction glue.
  • Push the lampshade through from below and fix it on the top of the resulting well.
  • Take a strong wire and cut it into 4 pieces, 25 centimeters each. Then fix some ends on the branches, and twist the other ends together at the top.
  • Fasten a light fabric over the wire. For example, chiffon, organza.

About

Advantages of a false fireplace

Simple idea and effective execution

Why not try to make an imitation of a real fireplace, especially since the process is simple and the result is amazing. All family members can participate in the assembly, which is great for uniting and uniting. Moreover, an artificial fireplace does not require a significant investment, so the budget will not suffer much.

Painting a plywood frame

An artificial hearth is a win-win solution for a living room decorated in any style. The structure itself is decorated at the request of the owners, adjusting the design to the interior of the apartment.

If you have long dreamed of an open decorative stove, make up your mind today, because the device has many advantages:

  1. The fascinating assembly process allows you to use your imagination and create an exclusive item
  2. The structure helps to hide the unpresentable appearance of heating devices and defects in the wall
  3. A fake fireplace does not require large financial costs, since available materials are involved in its creation
  4. All items and tools are easy to find at any hardware store. In some cases, it is enough to break down an old sideboard or unnecessary cabinet
  5. The device can be effectively decorated and given a modern and natural look.

The purpose of decorative fireplaces

Several decades ago, the fireplace served as a source of heating in the house; for a long time, wood and coal were burned in it to heat the room. Now the need for it has disappeared - more modern and ergonomic heating systems did not leave it even a chance to compete, making it a relic of the past.

Decorative fireplace in the living room interior

The need for such visualization of heat still exists in humans. Not every house and apartment allows the installation of a fireplace, so decorative false fireplaces have come to the rescue. It will not give a completely natural smell and fire, but it can create a pleasant atmosphere of comfort in the room.

Types of installations

All decorative stoves can be divided into three categories, depending on the degree of their naturalism. The solidity of the structure varies; it can be permanent or temporary. For example, fake paper fireplaces are made to decorate a New Year's interior or for Halloween.

Full imitation

A solid fireplace, made with maximum authenticity. Its appearance, size and decor naturally imitate the real thing. The interior of the firebox is equipped with an electric fireplace or biofireplace.

The advantages of these devices are the heating function and aesthetic appearance. The biofireplace burns with a real flame, running on ethanol, which does not produce smoke or soot during the combustion process. The burner is protected by tempered glass, so the design is safe.

An electric fireplace is a device that simulates the visual image of fire. Sold without a portal (or decorative casing), so it can be conveniently placed inside a hand-built fireplace. Both devices are quite expensive - for the smallest copy you will have to pay at least 6 thousand rubles.

Conditional

Conditionally natural design. The portal of such a fireplace only slightly recedes from the wall, and candles, mirror frames, and other small elements are placed in the shallow firebox. Such a hearth is decorated to resemble a real one, finished with tiles, and plaster stucco is added.

Symbolic

A symbolic fireplace is often a simple picture pasted on the wall. These can be spectacular photo wallpapers. Or a cardboard copy, decorated to look like a real stove.

Where to place the structure

False fireplaces are also distinguished by their shape, which determines their location:

  • Rectangular wall
  • Angular
  • Ostrovny

A wall-mounted specimen is placed in the middle of the wall, in a free area. It is placed permanently or built into furniture walls. The top edge is strengthened so that it can be used as a shelf.

Material of manufacture

Decorative fireplace made of polyurethane foam

  1. Drywall is the most common raw material on which any finishing finish fits perfectly. It is easy to assemble, it is easy to cut out any shapes, even complex and ornate ones. The main advantage of drywall is its low cost
  2. Plywood is an accessible and inexpensive material that is very pleasant to work with
  3. Cardboard – you can use it to make a temporary fireplace for a specific event. Regular boxes from large household appliances will do.
  4. Brick – a stove can be made of real stone only if it is small. The stone is very heavy in weight; the volumetric structure can put too much pressure on the load-bearing floors. It is best to make a frame from lightweight raw materials and stick decorative tiles imitating brickwork on it
  5. Wood - such a fireplace will be durable and beautiful. Natural wood boards are quite expensive. You can choose different natural shades or combine different colors
  6. Chipboard - instead of new sheets, you can disassemble an unnecessary sideboard. The finishing will still cover the frame, so if you have an old cabinet, give it a second life
  7. Foam plastic - layers are inexpensive. There are curly baseboards and corners on sale that can be used to decorate the product. You can use a cardboard box as a frame for the structure.
  8. Polyurethane is a building material from the subgroup of gas-filled plastics. The raw materials are very strong, shock-resistant, not afraid of humidity, high temperatures, fireproof (does not burn, but melts).

Fireplace with arched recess

To make this type of fireplace with your own hands for the New Year, you need to prepare two boxes of the same size, from which a unique decorative element will be formed. The boxes will need to be connected together to form a large box. The boundaries of the connection should be glued and secured with tape for reliability.

Instructions for making a New Year's fireplace will help you make such an unusual decoration of the room for the holiday as simply and quickly as possible. You should do the following:

  1. Using polystyrene foam, make a podium for the fireplace, on which the entire structure will subsequently be located.
  2. You need to cut out an arch from paper for the portal of the New Year's fireplace. The window must be made of such a size that it is combined with the overall size of the artificial hearth.
  3. Apply a template to the front of the structure in a symmetrical manner so that the proposed portal is placed strictly in the middle.
  4. Trace with a pencil according to the template and cut out using a stationery knife or scissors. The hole should represent the firebox of the hearth in the shape of an arch.
  5. Glue the mantelpiece and decorative plinth to the top part.

Finally, the resulting structure must be covered with paper and a covering formed from “bricks” that were cut out of cardboard. You can also use wallpaper or self-adhesive film with a corresponding print.

Corner fireplace made of cardboard box

Another option for creating a unique fireplace for the New Year holidays.

  • To make a corner hearth, you need to measure the dimensions of the walls for the future decorative element. Then prepare one large box. You can use a cardboard TV box.
  • Then you should draw up a project for the proposed structure, taking into account the measurements obtained.
  • After which you should begin the process of creating an artificial focus:
  • Cut off the back wall of the box.
  • The side flaps must be glued together with tape.
  • To make the top shelf, you can use a sheet of plywood, which should be cut in advance to the required size. In addition, you need to fold several cardboard sheets to make the most rigid structure possible, attaching it to the New Year's fireplace.

On the front side of the hearth you need to cut a hole for the “firebox”.

How to make a drawing and choose the right parameters

Simple design drawing

The drawing makes it easier to cut materials and helps to keep the dimensions correctly. It is best to find a ready-made drawing on the Internet and, after making your measurements, adjust it as required.

  • First of all, decide on the location of the stove
  • Select material for production
  • Confirm the size of the portal and niche for the firebox
  • Draw a detailed diagram, all figured components are transferred to paper in expanded form
  • Don’t forget that for a bio-fireplace you need to leave space inside the niche for the fuel tank, and for an electric fireplace or 3D frame, provide an outlet

Imitation from old furniture

Stages of rebirth of a mirror sideboard

Let's look at the stages of the most budget-friendly method for assembling a false fireplace using the example of an open glass sideboard with a mirrored back wall:

  • The cabinet has drawers at the bottom of the body. We remove the containers, along with the glass partitions
  • We cover the front with a sheet of plywood and cut out a rectangular hole in it for the future firebox. The height of its location is determined arbitrarily, at will
  • In the lower part of the front we cut out a semicircular hole for the blower. You can neatly place logs there
  • For the pedestal and mantelpiece, find old headboards. On such a podium the structure will stand stably and reliably
  • The portal is ready, now we need to start finishing it
  • Using a sander, go over the polished walls to make them rough. This way the putty will fit better on them
  • Apply a layer of primer, and after drying, carefully fill the fireplace
  • When the plaster has dried, sand down any uneven areas.
  • Apply acrylic paint
  • Finish with brick, stone, glue gypsum elements
  • Cover the bottom of the firebox with LED strip around the perimeter
  • Place stones, shells, firewood inside
  • If you turn on the backlight, the contents of the firebox will be displayed in the red-yellow flames in the rear wall mirror

Installation of a polyurethane product

Polyurethane hearth

We offer step-by-step instructions for creating a pseudo-focus from polyurethane:

1In a store that sells finishing materials, you need to buy a ready-made portal made of polyurethane. Choose an example with stucco, patterns or any other in accordance with the chosen style

2Prepare contact glue, putty, finishing materials

3Build a rectangular firebox from plywood, chipboard or plasterboard (its dimensions must match the niche in the frame)

4Choose a location for the fireplace. Apply glue to the inside surface of the frame and press it firmly against the wall

5Insert a firebox or pre-purchased electric fireplace inside

6The gaps between the frame and the firebox are carefully filled and covered with putty

7Perform finishing

If desired, you can install a mantelpiece made of wood or plastic, stylized as natural stone, on top

A fireplace decorated with decorative stone-like tiles, which can be glued with universal ceramic adhesive, looks cozy.

Plasterboard construction

The metal frame is covered with plasterboard

Let's try to make a fireplace from plasterboard. Buy a moisture-resistant one, as it is considered more durable. You will also need rack and guide profiles for the frame.

To attach the parts and the entire structure to the wall, prepare self-tapping screws and dowel nails. Buy everything you need for finishing: wallpaper, tiles, film, shaped elements. The tools you will need are a screwdriver, an electric drill, a level, a tape measure, a knife, and a hacksaw.

Artificial fireplace decoration and decor

Artificial stone decor

Finishing plays a big role in the final appearance of a false fireplace. Make sure that it matches the interior of the room and is decorated in the same style. This way the hearth will fit harmoniously into the overall design of the room.

  1. Popular cladding materials are decorative brick, imitation stone, and ceramic tiles. They are easy to glue to any tile adhesive or liquid nails.
  2. False fireplaces are often covered with regular wallpaper or adhesive film with different patterns. This method is not suitable if you plan to build in devices with a heating function
  3. The portal can be painted or liquid plaster applied to it. The latter looks very stylish and impressive, especially if you add glitter, textile threads, sawdust or any other decorative composition to the composition

How to veneer a fireplace with stone

Finishing a fireplace with stone is technologically not much different from laying tiles. The difference is in working with the material itself, but there are almost no technical features. The only thing is that when using natural flagstone, be sure to cover the fireplace with mesh. Without it it will fall off.

Finishing the fireplace with stone is one of the options

Features of working with artificial gypsum stone

This type of decorative stone is inexpensive and lightweight; it can be used to decorate fireplaces, especially without overloading the ceilings. There are only some nuances, without which you will not achieve a good result.

The technology for producing gypsum stone is such that each element has some irregularities, sagging, and protrusions. We grind them off with a knife, fortunately the plaster is cut without problems. We grind each cladding element so that at the back, around the perimeter, a frame is formed with an angle of 45° (or so).

Moreover, often the corner elements of the gypsum decorative stone are several millimeters higher than the ordinary ones from the same collection. In order for the cladding to look monolithic, this difference also has to be removed - grinded down. When all the cladding elements are adjusted, they can be glued into place. Heat-resistant glue is used for cladding fireplaces, although with the correct design it almost does not heat up.

Working with natural stone

Most often, fireplaces are faced with natural stone, sawn into plates. It is also called flagstone or stone tiles. The shape of all the fragments is different, you have to adjust it to make everything look beautiful. In this case, it is definitely better to first lay out the entire picture on some plane, select and process the elements. Only after the mosaic is complete can it be glued. The entire technology for installing a fireplace on the walls is described above and is practically no different. The whole process can be seen in the video.

Imitation of a hearth in an apartment interior

A false fireplace can be decorated in any style, from ornate baroque to minimalist high-tech.

  • Classic examples look noble and solid. They are finished with materials that look like expensive stone, such as marble. The front side is decorated with bas-reliefs and stucco
  • Products in the spirit of Art Nouveau deny any pretentiousness, openwork and classics. Strict lines, straight shapes, and minimal design are welcome. It can be a simple box against the wall, with a twist in the form of a catchy color or metal tubes in the decoration
  • Country style is the interior of a cozy country house. A bulky fireplace decorated with artificial brick and wood will fit perfectly here. A rough wooden beam can be installed as a mantelpiece

When taking care of decorating your stove, don’t forget to decorate the area closest to it. It makes sense if there is a recreation area in this place. There are comfortable sofas and a small table for a pleasant tea party.

Candlesticks, photographs, paintings, and figurines are placed on the mantelpiece. You can lay a long-pile carpet, a rug knitted from thick cords, or the skin of a wild animal on the floor.

Imagine how lovely your living room will be if you have a cozy, homely fireplace in it! How pleasant it will be to spend evenings next to him with your family playing an exciting board game. A device assembled with your own hands will delight not only the owners, but also guests, friends, and acquaintances.

Niche as a hearth

This is a wonderful decorative element that can play a dominant role in the interior. Or become one of its stylish attributes. This installation will never go out of fashion, so the design of your apartment will always be stylish and original.

Decoration ideas for holidays and other events

Even the simplest fireplace can be easily decorated with available materials; this usually does not require any special knowledge or skills. For each holiday, its own type of decor is selected, which changes when the event has already ended or the time for another one approaches. For example, on Valentine's Day the design is decorated with a bunch of hearts, panels with declarations of love, on Halloween - a pumpkin with slits in the shape of a face, with a lit candle inside. By March 8th or February 23rd, the corresponding numbers are made from scrap materials, decoration is carried out in red-pink or blue-blue tones. Graduation from a university or other educational institution, retirement, housewarming, or the birth of a baby are decorated depending on the tastes of the hero of the occasion or his relatives.

For the wedding

White candles in candelabra, porcelain doves, paper hearts and flowers will make the holiday luxurious. The fireplace itself symbolizes the hearth; a good idea would be to make it the center of the wedding interior. Often used are bouquets of white roses, crafts made of foam plastic, light garlands made of paper, photos of the newlyweds, panels with their names, ribbons of pastel colors with wishes of happiness written on them.

For your birthday

A photo or a whole series of photos of the birthday boy will be located on the mantelpiece, next to his favorite drinks. A garland of colored paper flags, aluminum foil, lots of balloons, and words of congratulations above the fireplace will immediately create a feeling of celebration. Decorative candles, flowers, soft toys, items related to the activities of the person being congratulated will be an original addition. Colorful postcards will also decorate the interior.

To spring

Spring fills the house with freshness, so the spring-summer hearth is decorated with primroses in vases, tulips or daffodils, grown independently in pots, fluffy willow branches, artificial plants, and herbal wreaths. A birdhouse, figurines of birds, photographs of awakening nature are placed on the mantelpiece, and beautiful gardening tools are placed next to it. Decorating the fireplace with small panels made from slices of wood, with images of cherry blossoms and willow branches, will create an organic interior. For summer design, a marine theme with shells, models of sailboats, and photographs of sunsets over the water is suitable.

For Christmas and New Year

Decorations made from spruce and pine branches will come in very handy for the New Year holiday. They are decorated with Christmas tree decorations, painted pine cones, foam snow, and gold spray paint. LED garlands and tinsel are placed around the perimeter, baskets are placed on the shelves, tangerines and sweets are placed there, decorative socks are hung above the hearth itself, in which Santa Claus should put gifts. Bright cardboard boxes are placed on a shelf or nearby, paper stars, snowflakes, Christmas angels complete the picture.

For Easter

An indispensable attribute of this celebration is an egg. Painted chicken or homemade foam eggs in baskets woven from wicker or newspapers are placed on the mantelpiece, Easter cakes, Easter bunnies, porcelain angels, and spring greens in vases are also placed there. Paper and fabric garlands with images of eggs, colored cardboard decorations, textile balls, and embroidered elements complete the interior.
