How to distinguish Vupsen from Pupsen
Luntik is one of the most popular children's cartoon characters in recent years. The Russian animated series by the Melnitsa studio about a kind alien is recommended for preschool children. The main characters of the cartoon are endowed with different characters. The caterpillar brothers Vupsen and Pupsen are considered the most complex and harmful characters. They are very similar, and therefore they are often confused. How to distinguish Vupsen from Pupsen?
“The Adventures of Luntik and His Friends” is an animated series aimed at raising and developing children. The main character is a funny lilac creature with four ears. Luntik communicates with numerous inhabitants of the clearing and pond: insects, fish, birds, frogs, etc. The best friends of the guest from outer space are considered to be the grasshopper Kuzya and the ladybug Mila. Kids constantly come up with interesting games and find themselves in new situations.
The main obstacles and dirty tricks are committed by the brothers Vupsen and Pupsen. The two inseparable caterpillars are a little older in age than the other heroes, and therefore contemptuously call everyone “little ones.” Ill-mannered and rude, Vupsen and Pupsen constantly annoy Luntik and his friends, tease butterflies and do not respect adults. Like all caterpillars, they wait to grow up and look down on other insects.
Vupsen and Pupsen spend the whole day searching for tasty berries and new fun activities. They take part in various holidays and events of the clearing, but always strive for a reward. Despite their bad character, caterpillars are quite talented. The brothers dance well and collect ikebana. Vupsen is secretly interested in flamenco, but is embarrassed to admit it. Note that the caterpillars have second cousins Tyapsen and Lyapsen.
It is very easy to distinguish Vupsen from Pupsen. Vupsen is older and slightly taller than Pupsen, wears a bandana and an apron with a plum pattern. Pupsen always wears a baseball cap with the visor backwards, and there is a cherry on his apron.
Vupsen always initiates the prank, while Pupsen often doubts and dissuades his brother. We can say that Pupsen is kinder and softer. However, it is he who, as a rule, gets the punishment after the tricks of his older brother.
Conclusions:
- Vupsen is older than Pupsen.
- Vupsen wears a bandana on his head, Pupsen wears a baseball cap turned upside down.
- On Vupsen’s apron there is a plum drawn, on Pupsen’s there is a cherry.
- Vupsen always initiates the prank.
- Pupsen is kinder and more honest than his brother.

Carnival costume from pajamas - kigurumi
I have long wanted to use characters from modern cartoons at the New Year's party, which all children know and love well. But for a very long time I was faced with the difficulty of choosing and preparing a carnival costume for such a character. This time I focused my attention on a wonderful, kind series about Luntik and his friends. I decided to include in the holiday script not only Luntik, as a positive character, but also caterpillars - the funny and capricious Vupsenya and Pupsenya, who must be re-educated and taught something good, because our children will learn this together with them.
She also sparked her idea with her partner, music director Svetlana Nikolaevna Ivakina. Having drawn up the script, we began to puzzle over how to make the characters’ costumes recognizable , beautiful and interesting. How many ideas we found and rejected during the discussion process! One day, while "wandering"
While browsing the Internet, I came across the site
“
Pajamas - Kigurumi ” .
Having looked in, I saw unusual pajamas , and realized - here it is - the solution to our problem!
The heroes of children's cartoons and fairy tales of different nations are subtly similar to each other. The difference is made only by the traditions and mentality of a certain people.
I’ll tell you what we ended up with below, but now I’ll write a little about these same kigurumi pajamas .
Today, performers dressed in onesies appear in shopping malls, theme parks, and anime festivals. costumed characters in Disneyland and children's shows. They often participate in sporting events as mascots. Onesies also used to entertain children.
The first kigurumi costumes were invented by the rational Japanese, who preferred to take off their discreet office suit and put on comfortable and spacious clothes for relaxation.
In 1980, residents of Canada, the United States of America and Europe became interested in kigurumi costumes In 1994, the first website appeared on the Internet, which posted models of doll costumes and masks from designers developing anime-style clothing. Since 2008, this movement began to develop in Russia.
If the first onesies were used only as costumes for animators , today in London, New York, Minsk or Moscow you can meet young people dressed in costume . The suits became so popular that even snowboarding and skiing enthusiasts began to wear them over outerwear.
Children's kigurumi pajamas can be considered a real godsend for parents. After all, they are great for spending time at home, for a matinee in kindergarten, and for a fancy-dress masquerade ball at school. Children love these clothes because they represent their favorite animals or cartoon characters.
Kigurumi pajamas are available in different sizes, so you can always easily choose a product for a baby or an adult. Onesies are all unisex. Traditionally, pajamas are made from flannel , fleece, velsoft, velor or soft polyester.
For Luntik we chose Pokemon pajamas:
They altered the ears, pushing them over each other and filling them with synthetic padding, glued on a different shape for the eyes, and removed the forked tail from the back. After that, a large circle of fleece was sewn onto the stomach, also filled with padding polyester to add volume: they sewed it on one side and secured it with buttons on the other. This is so that the suit can be unbuttoned comfortably on the stomach. We sewed other smaller circles, like Luntik’s.
Here's what we got:
For the caterpillars, the pajamas of a green bamboo bear were used as a basis.
from the pajamas , the circles were torn off at the front, strings were made to them, turning them into aprons. The pattern on one apron was also changed. “Paws” were sewn into the side of the outside of the trousers.
, filled with padding polyester. On the feet they made voluminous slippers of the same color - shoe covers.
There was a costume like this :
It turned out like this:
I hope our experience will be useful to someone else, because the variety of pajamas is very wide : kittens, bears, horses... Choose according to your taste!

Options for decorating a caterpillar costume
The most recognizable parts of a caterpillar are the legs and antennae. Ordinary short black ribbons can be used as legs, or you can make voluminous legs from black fabric stuffed with synthetic padding. The antennae are made in the same way, which are then attached to the rim. In addition, they can be made from wire with any decoration at the end, springs or foil.
Reference! You can not only place many legs on the sides of the body, but also tie them together with ribbon or fishing line, attaching the top ones to the sleeves. Thus, when the child raises his arms, all his legs will rise with them.
As for the additional design of the costume, it can be sequins, appliqués made of fabric or paper, any three-dimensional compositions and much, much more.
In addition, you can make additional accessories, for example, cut out a large wooden sheet from cardboard and paint it, or cover it with green fabric - the child can carry it in his hands.

Vupsen and Pupsen
New photos for the competition. These are the caterpillars Oksana Zolotareva for her son. After all, in fact, children can also be called our teachers (otherwise how would we learn to be parents without them?). I give the floor to Oksana:
“To create Vupsen and Pupsen from the film “Luntik”, I needed:
- strong wire,
- plastic balls (green),
- polyurethane foam,
- kinder eggs,
- bottle caps,
- white plastic bottles (for bibs),
- braid for decoration,
- 0.5 bottle (for a cap),
- toothpicks,
- a little plasticine
- acrylic paint,
- self-tapping screws
- and toy eyes.
We string plastic balls onto the heated end of the wire, the penultimate ball is pre-foamed with polyurethane foam, we cut off its irregularities and paint it, string it onto the wire bent upward, and then the last ball and bend the tip of the wire.
The bottle caps are pre-painted and secured with self-tapping screws to create claws.
We also use self-tapping screws to secure the ears from Kinder eggs and a cap pre-cut from the bottom of a plastic bottle. We insert wire handles into the desired ball and color them. Antennae - toothpicks with plasticine - insert and color. We cut out the bibs at the base of the neck and attach them to the neck.
I decorated everything, glued eyes and braid to the second caterpillar.”
These are the almost living caterpillars Vupsen and Pupsen that Oksana produced. I think her son was very happy to have guests!
Well, for adults, who for some unknown reason don’t know who they are, you can look here (Vupsen and Pupsen appear at 50 seconds)
