You can even make several different options.

Suit material

When creating different versions of a costume, there are common points. Let's take a quick look at them. You should start with the necessary materials:

Baby net. The more of it, the better. The fact is that part of it will have to be spent on experimentation in order to choose the best color for camouflage. Usually, 3-4 meters in length and one and a half width are enough for making a suit and preliminary work. The original color of the mesh used does not matter. But the cell size should be limited to the range of 1-2.5 centimeters.
Jute thread. To obtain it, you can use brown bags designed for storing potatoes. Jute twine is not suitable because it is too stiff and thick. Considering that after painting and drying these properties will become even more pronounced, it will be extremely difficult to work with. Therefore, it is better to buy jute bags and pull out the required thread from them.

How to make a bag

Although the bag is not a mandatory part of the costume, its presence will add additional flavor to the child’s New Year’s look. To create it you will need burlap and a fabric belt or belt of the appropriate color. It is possible to use a cut bag.

The belt is sewn to the end parts of the bag, after which it can be decorated. Green or yellow fabric elements cut in the shape of leaves, as well as patches, are used as decoration. Holes are cut under some of them, from which soft toys resembling forest animals and fruits will stick out.

The advantage of the goblin costume lies in the many options for its execution, which depend on the imagination and skill of the parents. Often its creation does not require special skills.

Any New Year's party for children cannot do without a carnival costume. This becomes not an easy task for parents. Although nowadays it won’t be a problem to buy a suit for the New Year or rent a suit. But if you want to make an exclusive costume for a child, you will have to try on your own and make a New Year’s costume with your own hands.

I will share my experience. Every year I tried to make a New Year's outfit with my own hands.

This is important for me, because this is how you show your child that you care, and you want to participate in this holiday with him. And the cooking process itself also gives a special mood.

This year is special because our boy has grown up and a bunny or bear costume is not suitable. And at that moment dad’s imagination turned on. He suggested making a forest monster costume

. And as it turns out, making such a costume is very simple. The only thing you need is some free time in the evening and some preparations.

For a forest monster costume or it can be called a goblin costume

, we will need:

an old jacket or shirt of gray-green color,
breeches or trousers and some kind of hat,
as well as unnecessary weaving in gray-green-brown colors.

As a consumable, we took my dad's multi-colored shirt, which he hadn't worn for a long time and generously allowed us to do whatever we wanted with it. So we cut it into small pieces.

So, let's start telling you in order, here is my master class.

We cut fabric or any consumable material into strips approximately 20 cm wide and 30–40 cm long.

Now each strip needs to be cut into small strips 1-2 cm wide, making a fringe out of it, as shown in the photo.

It will be enough to sew three such stripes onto a child’s sweater - at the top at an angle, in the middle and along the edge of the sweater. This must be done both front and back. You can sew small strips in bunches to the base, but it seemed to me that it was easier and prettier if you sewed them in long strips.

Also don't forget about the sleeve. Sew such fringe onto the edge of the cuffs and onto the shoulders. Since this is a New Year's costume, we will decorate it with sparkles. You need to sew a shiny green garland near the collar, and add bunches of multi-colored rain to the front.

Now you need to work on the bottom of the suit.

We also sew pre-prepared fringe onto the edge of breeches or any other pants and add multi-colored rain in bunches.

In principle, it doesn’t even matter what basis you take, because

it will not be visible under the fringe. It is important that your child is comfortable in these clothes. Since New Year's parties at school age are usually held in the form of interactive games, where children run around and participate in various competitions.

And don’t forget about one more detail of the outfit – the hat! We took a Panama hat from dad's wardrobe and sewed various ropes, stripes and leaves onto it. That's it!

Of course, everyone can add something of their own or subtract something unnecessary, at their own discretion. By the way, such a costume will also be useful in the summer, when you want to play hide and seek in nature.

The goblin is a famous character in folk tales. To make a Leshy carnival costume with your own hands, you need to study the nature and character traits of this character. This way you can get into the image more successfully.

We can say that Leshy is the owner of the forest or a forest wizard. He is not evil, like Baba Yaga or Kikimora, because he helps good travelers: he leads them onto the road if they get lost, treats them with his gifts - berries, mushrooms, leads forest predatory animals or snakes away. However, if people come to him (to the forest) with malicious intent and spoil his possessions, Leshy can scare them or lead them into the thicket.

In different fairy tales and stories, Leshy looks different: sometimes he is small, like a gnome, an old forest man, sometimes he is huge, like a tree, a giant. He is dressed rather awkwardly, but thoughtfully. The Goblin costume includes the following mandatory elements:

bast shoes;
patched pants;
hat on one side;
gloves or semi-gloves;
hoodie.

To sew a Leshy costume, you will need fabric of brown, green and gray color, khaki shade. It is also worth using artificial fur for decoration (this will mean moss), mesh, and twine. Significant details will also not be out of place: tree branches, pine cones, leaves, buttons in the form of insects, forest flowers, berries or fruits.

What should a devil's outfit be like?

The main features of such a costume are the brown-green color scheme and the appearance, reminiscent of a robe.
All this should resemble forest camouflage. There are outfit options consisting of pants and a shirt. However, a simple cape will do. Any type of suit must include a hat.

Since we are interested in the Leshy camouflage suit for hunting, and not full-fledged sniper equipment, we will consider the option of making a hoodie jacket. This is something between a full set and a poncho cape. To create a jacket you need the following components:

Front part.
The back of the product.
Hood.
Sleeves.

The cutting of the front and back is done in the same way. Parts are cut out in the form of rectangles, which should have a width of one meter and a length equal to a person’s height, measured from ankle to shoulder. Their width is one meter. The edges at the top need to be sewn by one third to leave a hole for the head. Sleeves must be made in two pieces. In this case, rectangles with dimensions of 40x70 centimeters are used. When making a “Leshy” suit for hunting with your own hands, you must take into account that the camouflage robe will have to be worn over various clothes, possibly over a padded jacket. Therefore, allowances should be made of at least 5 cm. When the sleeves are cut, they must be put aside until painting. All that remains is to make the hood. To do this, you need to cut out one square with sides of 20 cm, as well as three rectangles with dimensions of 20x40 centimeters. They are then sewn into a hood. The finished element should almost completely cover a ten-liter bucket.

Coloring of materials

Once the mesh is cut and the bags are unraveled, you can start experimenting with coloring. There is a wide scope for imagination here. But you need to remember that you need to paint strictly according to the instructions. Before starting the process, you need to check what colors the purchased paints give on different fabrics. For example, if you use a green synthetic dye on jute threads, you can get a dark olive color as a result. However, for nylon thread it will correspond to what is stated on the packaging.

Once you have decided on the colors, you can begin the main painting. Initially, it is necessary to divide the skeins into several groups. Each of them will correspond to a specific camouflage color. Please note that they may be shaded. For example, using dark green and clay in equal proportions will make the costume appear more brown to people. You also need to decide on the basic coloring. It should be applied not only to the largest number of skeins, but also to parts cut from mesh, to nylon thread and to cord.

Shoes for the old forest man

Realistic knitted bast shoes will be an excellent addition to Leshy’s outfit. How to knit Leshak's bast shoes with your own hands? To make them, you will need an old beige or orange T-shirt. The product is cut into long strips about 2 cm wide. Bast shoes are then woven from the resulting ropes.

Using a crochet hook, pick up a chain of 8 loops and then knit in the round with additions on the end sides until a fabric the size of the sole appears. Next rows are knitted without adding stitches. When the height is sufficient for the heel and toe, the oval part of the top of the foot is knitted separately. Four ties about 60 cm long are knitted from the same strips, then two are attached to the top of the heel.

These laces are then wrapped around the leg to the middle of the shin. These bast shoes are very similar to real rustic ones and will perfectly complement the New Year's costume of the devil. The carnival dress is almost ready, but some more decorative elements are needed to complete the look.

If the trousers are long, then the color of the socks does not matter, but if the baby wears breeches, then add green, gray or brown knee socks to his look.

You can use a wig or get by with a headdress. It is very easy to sew a hat from a rectangular piece of faux fur (fold it to form a cylinder and sew it, the top will need to be secured with vertical seams, and the bottom can be trimmed with fringe). In the same way, a hat is made from simple soft fabric, and fur is sewn on if the baby has short hair. It is better to make the fringe longer at the back (let it be up to the shoulders), and shorter at the front, like bangs.

An excellent headdress would be a straw hat. You can place a lot of forest natural materials on the fields: a sunflower, a ladybug, a frog, a spider. Perhaps you can find decorative parts in a box with old toys.

Cut off the fingers from old gloves, cover them with pieces of fur, felt leaves, and berries.

Drying

After dyeing, the stage of preparation for using the costume begins. The first step is to dry it thoroughly. Before doing this, all parts must be rinsed well. Otherwise, even a little rain will cause the camouflage to fade.

Your clothing should include a variety of shades of olive, brown and green. You need to dry your suit in the shade. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Since natural jute thread has an inexpressive brown-brown color, similar to withered grass, one or two skeins can be left undyed. There is very little left to complete the sewing of the homemade Leshy costume for hunting.

Girl's outfit

First of all, it is worth noting that almost any outfit for a child can be made from things already in the wardrobe. For example, for a forester costume you will need a brown dress. Ideal if it is with long sleeves. You will also need multi-colored thin felt and thick threads.

How to make a costume for a girl?

From brown felt, cut out an irregular oval, measuring 15-18 cm in length and about 10-12 cm in width. This piece of fabric will serve as an improvised squirrel hollow.
Using thick light-colored threads, sew an oval shape onto the belly of the dress. Cut out the silhouette of a squirrel from light felt and sew it on top of the oval.
Draw an oak leaf on cardboard and cut it out. Use it as a stencil, tracing it onto felt. Sew finished leaves of different colors to the sleeves.
Use a glue gun to glue the nuts near the squirrel. Complete the forester costume with brown shoes and tights.

When all the parts and materials are ready, you can proceed to the final stage - weaving. This is not an easy task, so you first need to prepare the workplace. To do this you will need a machine and a comfortable chair. For the first one, you can use an old drawing board. Install it at an angle and place the net on top. Let the second part hang down.

We lay out the mesh parts and move on to making the so-called shags. They will be a bundle of 4-5 threads of the same length. In this case, they should be folded in half. Since it is the shags that will camouflage the wearer of the camouflage, their production should be approached with special attention. In this case, the following points should be taken into account: the length of the threads should not be too short, nor too long. In the first case, the person will look like a cactus. In the second, they will cling to everything.

Practice has shown that the optimal length of threads is 40-55 centimeters. If you fold them in half, the bun will be in the range of 20-27 cm. Such shaggy hairs will allow you to well blur the outlines of the body on the ground. When making a “Goblin” costume for hunting with your own hands, it is necessary to use one color for better quality, placing it in a square with sides of 9-10 centimeters. Then another square should go with a slight offset. Other approaches can be used, but this one is recognized and popular.

Despite the winter, tufts of grass and dry tree leaves are easy to find in December. Tie them with a few stitches onto your pants, shirt, hat and windings of your New Year's costume. You can also sew on needles and small branches of pine or Christmas tree.

If you have dried mushrooms on hand, try to find a cap or a fragment of a cap and a spine and sew them onto the hat. It will also be decorated with pine or fir cones.

Makeup

Leshy does not like to wash himself. Therefore, to complete the image, it is better if the child is a little grimy. To do this, you can use this method. Take a porcelain or ceramic cup and hold its bottom over the flame of a match or lighter for a few seconds. The soot formed on the bottom will become the “cosmetic product” of the devil. Don't worry, it's completely harmless and washes off easily.

Don't forget about the hotels!

Leshy is a wonderful, mischievous and very kind old man. And of course, he cannot come to the holiday without gifts. Remember how we sewed a big pocket onto the shirt? So, this is where we will place the gifts. Dried fruits, nuts, and, if available, dried berries are suitable as gifts. The child will be able to generously treat both children and adults with forest gifts at the festival.
