4. Carefully, trying not to spoil the thin foil, begin wrapping the bottle blank. The teeth of the crown should sort of hide under the foil; we’ll decorate them later.
5. Feeling each clove with your hand, make cuts on both sides of each one.
6. Fold the edges of the foil over to form each tooth. They should turn out neat.
7. Using glue, decorate the crown with rhinestones or artificial stones. You can use bright confetti, they stick well and are inexpensive.
Little things you shouldn't forget

I made mermaids a long time ago, for filming a video, the lycra was simply cut without finishing the edges, the ties were one-piece at the back, the cape on the chest was also tied and that’s all...
I sewed the squirrel from thin furniture fabric... just a jumpsuit with a large sag to the knees, almost and quite wide, with Velcro on the back, the tail is stuffed with holofiber and attached like a backpack - two rubber loops are sewn at the level of the back - and fasteners between them, in case of a very thin squirrel...

How to decorate a suit? Of course, flowers, garlands, wreaths, pearl threads.
Choose uniform nautical attire. It will be a blue or black bottom - a skirt, shorts, and trousers will do. And also a light top and some stripes.
Who will you be at the holiday? A captain, a cabin boy, a sailor, or maybe a cook or a boatswain? Copy the image from pictures of real sailors.
And even when the party is organized in honor of a naval holiday, choose a stylized outfit. There can be no taboos or strictures here. This can be either everyday uniform or a festive uniform.
An irreplaceable guy will help you stand out. Of course, it is difficult to find such a stylized collar on sale.
But you can try making it yourself. Make friends with threads and needles, start making a U-shaped pattern.
The width of such a blank will be equal to the width of the shoulders, and the depth of the collar will be the distance from the neck to the shoulder blades on one side and to the chest on the other.
After sewing a piece of white fabric, sew blue ribbons along the edges in the form of stripes. This accessory will suit any outfit.
The second characteristic accent in the outfit can be flared trousers. And this is where sewing skills come to the rescue.
The shins on dark trousers are ripped open from the knee and triangular wedges are sewn into them.
Of course, you can go a simpler way, using the old-fashioned method. In this case, the cloth trousers are moistened and pulled over the wedges.
After complete drying, for which you can use an iron, the trousers take the desired shape.
But just keep in mind that if moisture accidentally gets on such trousers, they will undoubtedly return to their previous appearance.
Step-by-step instruction
The basic item of the ancient Greek men's wardrobe was the chiton. It was worn on a naked body, pinned at the shoulders and draped, picked up by a belt. Noble citizens wore a toga over the chiton, which was also draped, but either on the shoulder or under the belt along with the chiton.
Costume base
First, let's make the basic costume item:
- Take a white sheet and fold it in half so that the fold is on the left. This is a side connection of the chiton, the second side either remains with free ends or is slightly picked up with threads from the inside;
- so, a sheet folded in half is our tunic. There is a top and a bottom of the product, one fixed side and two free ends for the right side. Now our task is to try on the length of the product directly on the child. The width of the sheet is the desired value ;
- if the length is too big, then bend the top edge outward to the required width;
- the top of the tunic is decorated in several ways: you can connect the two free ends of the sheet together, releasing the ends so that the left side of the product rises to the armpit and fasten it together.
- the second option is to connect the top of the chiton at two points, evenly spaced along the edges from the neck. To do this you will need two brooches;
- We will decorate the bottom of the tunic with decorative braid with golden ornaments: we will glue or sew it along the very bottom.
The basic part of the costume is ready. The next stage is the construction of a toga from bright colored fabric.
Toga
Important! In Ancient Greece, purple was considered the most luxurious color after white. Rich citizens decorated their clothes with different shades of it. But for a carnival costume it is not necessary to choose this particular color. Blue, light blue, red, beige, cherry, and gold are also suitable.
Let's take care of that:
- we bend the fabric in the same way as we worked with a sheet;
- We obtain a product blank, which can be treated along the length and at the free ends with golden braid . The suit will look great;
- the free ends should be secured on the left side, just like the chiton on the right;
- if there are two fasteners on the left side, then remove the lower one and pin off the ends of the chiton and toga together on the shoulder.
The toga is ready, you should take care of a very important accessory - the belt. Let's make it from a wide golden ribbon, bending the edges inward and sewing pieces of Velcro on top of them.
Crown
The crown is made of thick paper. Ivy leaves are cut out of it, glued together at the ends, and then covered with gold paint. If you have golden paper, you can stick it on thick paper, then cut it out and glue the leaves together .
Shoes
One of the key points of the outfit is shoes. The ancient Greeks wore sandals consisting of numerous straps that reached to the knee. All this was attached to a flat leather sole. It is problematic to make such shoes with your own hands, and therefore it is worth borrowing something similar to sandals from your summer wardrobe.
Important! If you have no options, take regular flip-flops, wrap the rubber parts with a gold ribbon and lace your legs with it from the ankle to the knee, tie it at the top.
That's it, the Zeus costume is ready. We assemble it for fitting: first the boy must put on a tunic, then a toga . All fasteners and connections must be in place and folds straightened out. After this, a belt is put on, under which all the folds of the drapery are straightened and beautifully laid out.
Tunic
But there is another option, in which the base is not a chiton, but a tunic.
It will need to be sewn, and if you have a sewing machine, then things will go faster. If it’s not there, it’s also not a problem, the seams in the tunic are quite primitive, straight, and the braid can be glued on. We sew a tunic:
- fold the fabric (sheet) in half. The top fold will be the shoulder part. Then again in half, shoulder to shoulder;
- From the resulting rectangle we cut out a tunic: at the top we have a ready-made solid shoulder, at the other end there is the bottom of the product, which should not be reduced in width. We retreat from the top 20–30 centimeters from the top and the same amount from the edge;
- from this point we draw a smooth line connecting the sleeve with the side part, draw it to the very bottom, expanding to the sides;
- draw a neck of the required width;
- We chop off the parts with pins along the intended contour;
- cut it out, then remove the pins;
- sew down the side seams;
- we process the neck;
- bend the bottom;
- sew a golden ribbon onto the neckline, the ends of the sleeves, and the bottom of the tunic;
- The product is ready, all that remains is to iron the suit.
Nautical themed party: themed costumes
But if you want to amaze everyone with your original costume, choose a themed outfit.
Definitely, to prepare clothes, you will have to use your imagination or put some effort into making them.
It will be much easier, but much more expensive, to purchase a ready-made costume for a sea party.
For those who still decide to approach the choice of outfit creatively, we offer several non-standard options.
Captain costume for a sea party
Who are you, captain of the ship? And why are you so asked to smile? Definitely, this is a serious, respectable and slightly brutal man.
And the costume for such a hero must be appropriate. The captain's white festive suit looks original.
But in hot weather, you can opt for a white short-sleeved shirt and dark-colored trousers.
Keep in mind that the captain also has casual clothes. Therefore, a black jacket is ideal for creating an image.
The main thing is to decorate clothes so that they fully match the style.
To do this, you will need gold braid, from which we will make aiguillettes on a shirt or tunic.
Be sure to replace the button with metal ones and sew on the shoulder straps. To make shoulder straps, cut out a template from cardboard and cover it with dark fabric, make a edging with braid. And you definitely need a uniform cap.
This costume is suitable for both adults and children's sea parties.
Poseidon costume for a nautical themed party
If the holiday is dedicated to the Sea Kingdom, the costume of the mythical lord of the seas is ideal.
Neptune or Poseidon is a formidable and stern god of the sea, whom all sea wanderers feared and respected.
And it’s stupid to think that this is just a decrepit old man with a beard.
The image should correspond to the nautical theme, but emphasize the power of the hero. And you don’t have to wear some kind of robes and bulky capes, which often associates the created image with the appearance of a “summer Santa Claus.”
Create such a brutal, strong, handsome god. With a naked torso, with a crown on his head and a trident in his hands.
Let a well-chosen fabric in the shape of sea water develop around the hips, and a cape made of fishing net cover the shoulders.
