Old socks or towels, a tennis ball: how I make toys for dogs from old things

Every person who has ever had a dog knows how much they love to play. They love to run and always need to chew on something. Of course, the easiest way is to purchase special toys for dogs in the store. But they are often quite expensive. Plus, you could be wasting money if your dog quickly ruins the toy or doesn't like it. If you want to save money, try making it yourself. To do this, you will only need available things and some free time.

From a tennis ball and a sock

This is the easiest option for making a toy for your pet. To create it, you only need an old sock and a tennis ball. Dogs love to chew things, so this toy will definitely interest them. You can throw it and ask your pet to fetch it. Of course, you don't have to put the ball in your sock to play. But this way it will be more interesting for the dog to tinker with the sock, so the toy will be larger. It will also be easier to notice, for example, in the grass or on asphalt.

Take a large sock so that the ball fits comfortably in it. You should have some room left for him to roll around. Tie the sock in a knot to prevent the ball from falling out. And the toy is ready!

Remember that it is important to use clean items. The smell left on the sock may encourage your pet to chew on your shoes or get into poorly closed clothing closets. Choose a product made of thick fabric. There should be no holes in it, otherwise the dog will quickly tear the toy.

Sewing a soft ball: master class

In fact, the master class is very simple and short.

First, decide on the size of the ball and the pattern. Below you can download any of the proposed ones. The ball can be sewn from 6 or 8 wedges. Scale the dimensions as desired. If you sew according to the pattern of a six-wedge ball, which is given below, the resulting ball will have a diameter of approximately 10 cm.

Save and print the pattern (all patterns are prepared for A4 sheet size).

Cut out parts from scraps (I have 6 pieces). The direction of the share is indicated. You can alternate fabrics, then the result will be unusual, patchwork. I cut it out without allowances, it’s more convenient.

Sew the “petals” in pairs “facing” each other, and then sew these pairs together. Do not complete the last seam.

Turn the ball out through the resulting hole and fill it with filler. If you do handicrafts in front of your baby, offer to help him - this is a good development of fine motor skills.

Sew the hole by hand and the ball is ready to play!

If you get a taste for sewing, then maybe you will also be interested in a ball made of pentagons? The instructions are in the link, and the result looks like this:

Toy made from an old towel

Dogs love to play tug. You can buy a special rope for this, or you can make it yourself. For this you only need an old towel. Make 2 cuts along the length so that you have three flaps. Weave them into a braid. It is important not to completely cut off the towel scraps. They should be attached to one of the edges of the product so that the toy does not quickly fall apart. The flaps must have the same width. When you have braided the braid, secure the end by tying a tight knot. The toy is ready.

Use a clean towel. The unpleasant smell can scare the dog away, and it will not play with such a braid. Choose the size of the towel based on the size of your pet. Be sure to remove all tags, tags, and other foreign objects that could injure your dog's mouth.

Medicine ball - what is it?

Three thousand years ago, Persian and Greek warriors conducted endurance training using special devices in the form of animal skins filled with sand.

Ancient sources indicate that the Greek physician Hippocrates recommended that his patients restore health through exercises with leather stuffed bags.

They were thrown, pushed away from themselves, rotated, thrown, simply lifted, squats, bends and lunges were done with them.

In the modern world, these simulators have significantly changed their appearance while maintaining functionality. Most medicine balls are made in the form of a dense rubber ball with a non-slip surface. In its functionality it resembles dumbbells. Internal fillers are used mainly as weights, which prevent the ball from bouncing off the surface.

What types of medicine balls are there? There are a lot of types, depending on the manufacturer and what they are needed for. Products are available in various shapes and shades, expensive and budget, as well as in different sizes. This unique exercise machine is widely used both for fitness classes and for physical training at home.

Factories mainly produce inexpensive and compact models from 1 to 10 kg, with or without handles, horns. Men work out with heavier equipment, women prefer to use balls with a volume of no more than two kilograms for warming up. The presence of a handle on the ball makes it very similar to a classic weight.

Today, the scope of use of a sports simulator is quite diverse:

  1. Used for cardio training.
  2. Helps to lose extra pounds, pump up the muscles of the arms, legs, back, buttocks and abdomen.
  3. Strengthens the musculoskeletal system.
  4. Helps older people recover from injuries, as it does not negatively affect joints and ligaments and prevents their damage.
  5. Used for sports activities with teenagers and children.
  6. Provides an opportunity to develop coordination, balance, agility, and strength.

Toy made from a plastic bottle and an old sock

This toy is suitable for those dogs who love plastic squeakers. To make it you will need a plastic bottle and an old sock. Select their size based on the height and weight of your dog. The bottle must be thoroughly rinsed so that no unpleasant odor remains on it. Remove the label and remove the plastic ring and cap from the neck. They can injure the dog's mouth. Avoid using damaged bottles with holes to prevent your pet from cutting himself. Squeeze all the air out of it. Once you have crushed the bottle, place it in your sock. Tie a tight knot at the base of the sock. Show your dog that the bottle makes a grinding sound when squeezed to get him interested.

Toy made from a tennis ball and old rope

Another option for a toy for playing tug. To create it you will need an old tennis ball and rope. It should be thick and strong enough to prevent the dog from injuring its mouth while playing. Its length depends on the size of the pet. A rope about 24-46 cm long is best.

To make such a toy, you need to make 2 holes in the tennis ball on opposite sides. The easiest way to drill them is with a drill. But if you don't have one, you can make holes with a screwdriver or a thin knife. Secure the ball to prevent injury to your hands. Then insert a rope through the holes and tie knots on both sides of the ball so that it does not fall out during play.

How to make a sox (ball)

Extreme Sports: Socks: Making Socks
First, I would like to make a few comments.

1. The quality of equipment depends very much on financial investments. This, of course, does not mean that only those who have money can play Sox, but we still must admit that good sneakers are much more comfortable than sneakers and boots, and a footbag is much more comfortable than Sox.

2. However, skill depends on equipment by 5-10 percent - no more. A real master can show elements in boots that will make you rock!

3. Each of the games, united under the general name Sox, requires its own type of equipment.

4. It is advisable to play in the same form all the time.

Rules

Literally, from English this word is translated as 'flying sock'. Volley Sock is an inter-team competitive sports game played through a 1.4 m high net based on 'Socks' with Freestyle elements, played on a trapezoidal field (platform) measuring 12x8 m. The team size is 3-5 players. As in volleyball, it involves serves, passes, passes and scoring points. Volley Sock in the eyes of Freestyle has the highest level of professionalism in ball possession.

In order to play Volley Sock, you need Socks (ball). You can make it yourself or buy it.

1. The team must have from 3 to 5 people.

2. The sox is served from any edge located on the site.

3. The serve is made among the players 'in a circle', as in volleyball.

a) If, during a serve, the ball hits the net and falls into the territory of the serving team, then the opposing team is awarded 1 point and the right to serve passes to the opponent.

b) If, when serving, the ball hits the net and falls to the opposing team's side, then the team that served re-serves.

c) If, when serving, the sock flies out of the court, then the opposing team is awarded 1 point and the right to serve the ball passes to them.

4. When accepting a sox from the opposing team, you can make an unlimited number of strikes with it, no matter what techniques or strikes (except your hands) you will send the ball to the opponent’s zone.

5. If during the game you throw a sox into the opponent’s zone, accidentally hitting the net, and the opposing team was unable to take this hit, then your team will receive 1 point.

6. The game is scored until any of the teams scores 25 points, but if the teams have a score of 24, then the game will be played until 26, etc., until the score of one of the teams exceeds the score of the other team by 2 points.

7. You cannot score a goal using delay (this is holding the ball for some time with any part of the body other than the hands).

How to make SOKS

1. The simplest and most disgusting one is from a sock. You take a sock, fill it with stuffing, sew it up more or less evenly, and the sock (sox, and a full one at that) is ready.

2. Crochet from nylon (very hard, but absolutely indestructible) or floss/iris (multi-colored, soft, but will tear quickly). In principle, not bad, but I prefer leather ones.

3. Leather panel. You take soft leather/leatherette (no more than 0.5 mm thick), cut out 12 equal pentagons (12-panel) or 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons (32-panel, sewn like a soccer ball), after which the whole mess is carefully sewn together . A little advice - all the panels down to the very last (3 seams should remain unsewn) need to be sewn from the inside, then carefully turn it out and even more carefully sew it up to the end (it is best to fill in the stuffing when only one seam remains unsewn). Then the footbag (you can’t call it sox anymore - the tongue doesn’t turn) will turn out smooth, round, without visible seams. If it’s a little uneven, it doesn’t matter, literally after a couple of good games it will warm up and become simply perfect. Advantages: the skin will not wear out for a long time, very comfortable. Disadvantages: it is very long and difficult to do (it takes me 3-4 hours) and sometimes the threads on the seams break, but they can be sewn up again (threads are not leather, this is not a problem).

Socks: History of the Volley-Socks

This sport of Volley Sock was born between centuries - in the year of the Millennium.

It was invented in Russia in 2000. This game is reminiscent of games like FootBag and Hacky Sack, but it also has its differences. It is designed for team versus team play. Although the game is not yet popular because it was born quite recently, we hope that it will be accepted by Russian youth, who will soon begin to hold competitions in this sport. Literally, from English this word is translated as “flying sock”. Volley Sock is an inter-team competitive sports game played through a 1.4 m high net based on “Socks” with Freestyle elements, played on a trapezoidal field (platform) measuring 12x8 m.

So, let's start choosing a sox

. Sox can now be bought at the All-Russian Exhibition Center (Pavilion 'Moscow'), in the 'Vertical World' store, in the 'Extreme' store on Alekseevskaya and 'Roller-Extreme-Sport' on the station. m. Sukharevskaya. The usual price of sox is 150-180 rubles. Although a real footbag ($20) has already appeared at the All-Russian Exhibition Center, but, apparently, the game is not worth the candle. Firstly, it should cost $10, and secondly, good footbags have from 16 to 64 panels, and not 4. Therefore, my advice is to wait to buy a footbag (you can’t play with them on asphalt - it’s all leather -until better times. When buying a socks, you need to remember what game you are buying it for: if for VS, then the threads should be strong and the knitting should be tight so that the socks do not stretch and fray. For FS, sox with a less rigid viscous is suitable. In this case, the main thing is size. Never buy a small sox - a big one is much more convenient to play: better control, you can feel the center of gravity, the sox is softer and more comfortable on all playing surfaces. Now about the filler - the smaller the filler, the better, but if it is too fine, the juice will crumble, so see for yourself. A small filler takes the shape of the surface better - that is, it is easier to hold. The second advantage is the convenience of the second filling: you do not need to make a hole for filling; the surface of the sox, where the threads have stretched a little, is suitable for this. Be sure to look at what the filler is made of; now, instead of finely chopped plastic, they often fill in some kind of GE.

Now shoes

. I suspect this is the most pressing question. In fact, there is no definite answer to this, but a couple of subtleties will help you in your choice. The main companies that produce good sneakers for socks: DC Shoes Co, Vans, Skechers, Etnies, Adio. Brooks special sox sneakers are also on sale.

Requirements for sneakers

:

1. Soft, easily bendable sole It helps to make sole delay, flapper, toss socks, and also perform choreographic elements.

2. Non-wearable sole Necessary for playing outside, on asphalt. Otherwise, when tossed, the sole will be worn down to holes.

3. Corrugated sole (for Sole delay). Helps to securely fix the socks on the sole and prevents the sneakers from slipping on the court.

4. Good lacing. Contrary to what everyone thinks about shoes that stay true to their word, they need to be tied fairly tightly for good control and sock feel.

5. Soft wide toe Allows you to easily and confidently make a toe delay - one of the main elements in sox, as well as make many shots.

6. Rough surface Retains acid on such surfaces of the foot as Front side and Heel

7. The heel should control the Achilles on the sides and not restrain the ankles For free rotation of the foot in all planes. This is necessary for clear inside delay, clipper, heel delay, and osis.

8. The sides must be smooth For more accurate and confident inside delay, clipper and outside delay

9. There must be a rise after the toe This rise is needed to increase the surfaces for inside delay, clipper and outside delay, as well as to form a recess for toe delay.

10. Sneakers should be light.

I think this point can be left without comment - everything is clear. In the last month I have heard several questions and comments about rod laver shoes. It's encouraging that people are aware of the existence of shoes designed specifically for soccer. I will only say that this thing is purely professional and will not bring much benefit to a beginner or intermediate level player.

Some players prefer to play (especially indoors) in sandals, well, referring to my personal experience, I will say that some models are even okay, but when choosing, you should be guided by the same principles as when choosing sneakers. Shorts. Yes, yes, it’s shorts, not pipes, as many people think. Now the portrait of a truly great Sox player has begun to change rapidly. If earlier we imagined a kind of advanced teenager with dreadlocks in a sweatshirt, huge hanging pipes and unlaced sneakers, or even worse, in some kind of Grinds and always with a bottle of beer or a cigarette, now this is more of a sporty-looking guy (or girl) in a T-shirt, short shorts (Arivederchi, Gangboy, Homeboy, LA Dub etc.) and high-quality, comfortable and well-fitting shoes. For some, this is unusual, because sox is considered not a sport (I’m not even talking about art), but a pastime for progressive youth. But in this case, you can compare soccer, for example, with football. Many boys kick the ball around in the yard, but there are professionals who gather tens of thousands at stadiums. It’s the same with soccer - many people simply kick it for fun, and some try to turn this activity into a sport on the verge of art. These people also gather their own audience, although it is still very small, but as they say in advertising: “Everything is just beginning.” Meanwhile, we continue to choose shorts. Based on my personal experience, I would recommend training in either basketball shorts or special running shorts. The advantage of these shorts is obvious: when performing dexterity, around the world, knee delay and squeeze, nothing will interfere with you.

And finally, a T-shirt, or better yet just a T-shirt. This choice is explained by a simple rule. The lighter and smaller the T-shirt, the more comfortable and freer it is to play in it. I would recommend buying a basketball mesh jersey because... It is sleeveless and perfectly ventilated. You will not be hot and very comfortable. The second very good option is wrestling. It is also excellently ventilated and comfortable to play with. There is a third option - down with the T-shirts - let's play topless. So, now you are fully equipped, and nothing can stop you from learning the next sox element. TRY YOUR BEST

Re-sew a regular soft toy

Dogs love regular soft toys. But all owners know how quickly they tear them. As a result, the filler ends up scattered throughout the room. Therefore, you can remake the toy in advance. Just open it up and remove all the filler. Then stitch up the incision. Such a toy will last longer because the dog will not chew it up trying to get to the filler. It is also recommended to remove all buttons, snaps and other small parts. The dog may accidentally swallow them. Remember that a part that gets into the respiratory tract can cause the animal to suffocate.

Sometimes owners don't have enough time to play with their dog. You don't have to leave her alone. You can quickly make a fun toy for your pet that will keep him occupied. It will also stimulate his intelligence, which is beneficial for small puppies. To create this toy, you will need a dog treat and a plastic bottle with a wide neck. The best ones are those in which milk is poured.

Choose a healthy treat that your dog won't refuse. It should be small so that the pet can get it out of the bottle on its own. You can choose sugar-free cookies or cut boiled meat into small pieces. Place a treat in a bottle (about 10-12 pieces) and give it to your dog.

Training apparatus

An elastic ball is a boxing simulator. The product “Fight Ball” is very popular in this area.

What develops a boxing ball on an elastic band? Here, the tasks of developing such qualities as:

  1. Reaction.
  2. Coordination.
  3. Accuracy of attacks.
  4. Feeling of distance.

In the USSR, many boxers trained with this equipment.

How to work with a ball on an elastic band? The designated simulator is used here. First you need to adjust the elastic band in it. The ball should be positioned at the height of your stomach. This position is especially relevant for beginners. And the shorter the length of the elastic band, the more difficult the workout.

The next stages of work are:

  1. The ball is pushed away from itself by hand. You need to hit him lightly with your fist. It flies down or away from the striker. The key task is to hit the middle of the ball so that it flies in a straight path. Then it comes back - into the face. During these moments, you need to have time to hit him again. Continuous assaults follow this principle. The ball should not reach your face.

For beginners, it is better to abandon powerful blows and focus them only downwards. The duration of work at a similar pace is 10-20 minutes, every day. Until the execution is perfected.

  1. The ball with a boxing elastic band is put on the head again. The work goes on more intensely, the force of the blows increases. They walk only in front of themselves and should always be in line with the eyes.

It's so good to perfect direct and side attacks. You can use both hands alternately when working. Each fighter improves his personal combinations. Intensity – the same as in step 1.

  1. Similar actions as in point 2 + defense. After each attack, you need to place your hands at your chin. This is how the habit of proper defense is developed. The elbows protect the body. The intensity is the same.
  2. Analogy with point 3 + movement. You need to move around the room. The work takes place in a shuttle. You need to hit the ball constantly. He should not go down, but the fighter manages to return his hands. The intensity is similar.
  3. Analogy with point 4. You just need to concentrate on the ball, and on a suitable object, for example:
  • look at your training colleagues,
  • watch fights or a movie on the screen

This is how peripheral vision and concentration develop well. And also:

  • rapid reaction to moving targets,
  • overall coordination in space,
  • coordination of the shoulder girdle,
  • endurance,
  • operational orientation and perception of data,
  • accuracy of attacks on targets in motion,
  • sense of distance

Cut up a tennis ball and hide your dog's favorite treat in it.

The treat can be hidden not only in a plastic bottle, but also in an old tennis ball. Cut it with a knife, making a small hole measuring 5-7 cm. Fill the ball with small pieces of your dog's favorite treat. Then give the finished toy to your pet. Not all animals immediately understand where the tasty smell is coming from and how to extract it from the ball. In this case, the owner must show the dog how to get it.

Let's sew a soccer ball together!

The first ball in our patchwork club was sewn by Tamara Khrychikova, and after her I was overwhelmed by ball mania!
Symbolically, our soccer ball consists of 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons, yes, yes 2012! Anechka Khrychikova was the first to notice this game of numbers! Template here

To give the ball a masculine character, I decided to sew it from checkered shirt fabrics. The fabric must first be duplicated so that the ball holds its shape. On the inside of each template, set aside allowances or put convergence points, holes for which you first pierce with an awl. Arrange the hexagons with a daisy pattern around the pentagon and stitch one by one from mark to mark. Then stitch the sides between the hexagons. Next step: sew a row of pentagons Then a second row of hexagons. Your half of the ball is ready! Now you need to sew the second one and stitch both, leaving the last seam open. Carefully turn it inside out and fill it with holofiber or other synthetic filler. Sew it up with a hidden seam.

Sew with pleasure!

Sweet potato toy

To create this toy, all you need is old rope and a sweet potato. It must first be cut into thin slices and baked in the oven. It is important not to add salt, sugar, pepper or any other seasonings. The potatoes need to be baked for 5 hours to dry them out. Then make small holes in the slices and place them on the rope, tying a knot after each piece. This toy will keep the dog occupied for a long time, which will spend a lot of time trying to get all the pieces of treats to eat.

A treat for hot days

Like people, dogs have a hard time withstanding heat, especially if they have thick, dense fur. In such weather it is difficult for them to run and show any activity. But you can brighten up their day if you prepare them a cooling treat. You will need: an ice tray, dog biscuits, and beef or chicken broth.

First, pour chilled broth into the ice holes. Leave it in the refrigerator to freeze a little. You should end up with a thick but not completely set mixture. Then insert a dog biscuit into each hole. The broth should completely cover it so that the dog cannot quickly get the treat. Then return the tray to the refrigerator and leave it there until the broth has completely set.

Be careful not to make broth cubes too small for large breed dogs to avoid risk of them swallowing them and choking on them. You can pour the treats into plastic cups if you don't have a tray with large holes.

DIY medicine ball

Hello dear Pikabutians!

I made a small cut with a utility knife, about 10 cm. I drilled holes on the sides of the seam with a drill and began to thread the cord, which was the lace from an old sneaker.

The almost filled ball seemed too light to me, so I filled the remaining space with sand.

Without tightening the lacing all the way, I passed the other side of the cord to the beginning to make a knot. It was inconvenient to take photos, so I didn’t show how I generously filled the seam from the inside with silicone through the holes, so that a kind of “plug” would form inside, preventing sawdust and sand from spilling out.

I wanted to fill the entire space that was not sealed with tape with glue, but while I was applying the glue, it seemed like there was no point.

I chose this particular glue because it is transparent and does not harden, which means it will not break or crumble.

How it turned out is up to you to judge, but next time I will try to hit the ball as tightly as possible, because this one is still sagging, and over time, perhaps the sawdust will be strongly compressed, and it will become completely shapeless. The weight turned out to be almost 5 kg.

Time will tell, but for now this is the best option for 360r, instead of 2000r.

If anyone is interested in CrossFit training, I will be happy to answer questions and tell you where and what))

trolling from childhood.. when an old children's rubber ball was filled with stones or sand (or cement from a nearby construction site) and so unobtrusively left in the middle of the yard or on the edge of the playground.. there was always someone who liked to kick an ownerless ball.. Mats flowed like a river, on good days several times during the evening, when the drunks were returning home from the disco or garages. There were also jokes with old plastic cars - they were pierced with nails “standing up” and the car was left on the side of the road.. They used to sell (and still seem to have) volleyballs with cameras. They're just laced up.

The main thing is that the sand does not fall off it, otherwise it will get into your eyes and it will be unpleasant.

But the medicine ball is soft around the edges and in those moments of fatigue, when you are on your tenth approach, you miss the ball by catching it with your face, your version will break your nose.
