The choice of outfit directly depends on the age of the child, the children's group and participation in the New Year's program, and even on the symbol of the coming year. But, in any case, whether you decide to buy a suit, sew it yourself or order tailoring, it must meet certain rules.

The cockerel costume is, first of all, bright colors. Use any shiny flowing fabrics (satin, crepe-satin) or other materials of rich colors: red, orange, yellow, green. The feathers, tail and comb should hold their shape well; foam rubber and felt come in handy here.

Beak and scallop
The comb refers to the main attribute of our hero. To complement the costume with a red comb and yellow beak, you can sew a small hat.
Materials
Prepare materials:
- felt or fleece in red, black and yellow;
- sewing meter;
- scissors;
- padding polyester or cotton wool;
- threads;
- needle;
- safety pins;
- colored paper in white and black shades;
- glue;
- sewing machine.
Completing of the work
Using a sewing meter, measure the circumference of the child's head . On the black material we mark two parts of the oval. We cut out the patterns and sew them on. This creates the basis for a hat.
Red felt is used to create the scallop. We mark a pattern on the material. It is a strip with rounded upper edges, like petals. We cut it out and sew the petals on the wrong side using a typewriter. We fill the inner cavity of the comb with padding polyester or cotton wool and sew it up. We place the resulting comb along the middle of the cap and sew it on.
Yellow fabric is needed for the beak . We cut out two small triangles from the material and sew the sides to the wrong side. We stuff padding polyester inside and sew it to the hat. Make sure that the beak is located under the comb.
The final stage of the work is making the eyes . Cut out a small circle from white paper, and a slightly smaller circle from black paper. Glue on the sides of the ridge. The headdress is ready.
Tip : you can also cut teardrop-shaped earrings from red material and sew them just below the temples.
Wings
Materials:
- fleece in different colors (red, yellow, orange, green);
- piece of chalk;

- padding polyester
The bird is famous for its lush wings. To create them, you can cut out petals from multi-colored material, sew the halves to each other and stuff them with padding polyester. We sew the resulting feathers to the sleeves in a checkerboard pattern. It is recommended to alternate shades with each other. Then the wings will turn out much brighter and more original. A big advantage would be the multi-layered nature of the feathers. This will create additional volume.
Tail
The final element in the costume is the bushy tail.
Materials:
- several pairs of boas of different shades;
- scissors;
- threads;
- needle.
Here you can use several boa ribbons. The scarf is cut into two halves and sewn to the shirt at the waist. It is recommended to use several products of different colors at once. Such a tail will turn out to be very bright and memorable.

Sew a patchwork chicken for Easter
The Easter chicken is a very easy-to-make souvenir that children aged 7 years and older can make with the help of adults. Therefore, I hope that my master class will be especially interesting to teachers and parents. If you sew several chickens, you can not only decorate the festive table, but also assemble an interior decoration - a garland.
I tried to make as complete a description of the process as possible, because, despite the simplicity, there are some nuances in manufacturing, knowing which the work turns out neat and attractive. I hope that the description of this master class will be clear to those who rarely pick up a needle and thread.
A simplified version of the Easter chicken was shown to me about ten years ago by Nina Vasilievna Osipova, People's Master of Russia from Kirov. She got the idea, according to her, from ancient clay figurines of birds that our ancestors used in spring rites. I modified the bird a little, adding a tail and slightly changing the design.

Boots with spurs: how to make rooster paws
The easiest way to imitate a large paw with three long fingers is to cut out a silhouette from thick felt according to a template and add two straps to it. You can sew buttons or Velcro to the ends of the straps and put these paws on top of yellow or black sandals.
But you can make a more plausible option. For this you will need yellow rubber gloves, padding polyester and glue. Hide two fingers inside the gloves, stuff the rest very tightly. Make a cut in the palm of the glove and start the gloves through it onto the boots that you don’t mind. Tuck the glove sleeve in at the back and seal it. Tuck the rubber around the cut into the boot and glue it. You've got real chicken feet. Now you know how to make a rooster costume with your own hands!
Useful tips
- The costume of a small cockerel will look original . A white blouse and white tights are suitable for this.
- As a top you can use a cape, poncho, embroidered with feathers . This is much easier to sew than a blouse or shirt.
