A variety of construction toys have a positive effect on a child’s development. Thanks to such activities, the child develops intelligence, imagination and thinking. After all, Lego makes it possible to realize a wide variety of fantasies and show your creative abilities.
Any child will be delighted with such a gift. The Lego company presents construction sets on the market for different ages and on many different topics. Every design enthusiast will definitely find something interesting just for themselves.
For a child, such a design activity brings a number of positive aspects:
- develops fantasy and imagination;
- teaches you to combine colors and details;
- develops fine motor skills (the process of connecting parts).
Pot for indoor plants
You can use the construction set to assemble a flower pot. The convenience is that you can:
- build and rebuild as the plant develops;
- carefully disassemble without damaging the root system;
- combine with other similar pots to create a single composition.
Schemes for working on crafts
Schemes for creating crafts are the basis that will ensure successful work for the master. It is thanks to a clear and consistent scheme that work is carried out without errors.
Options where you can get ready-made craft patterns:
- Official website of the manufacturer. The most active manufacturers of children's construction sets constantly update catalogs and websites where they provide information on assembling various compositions.
- Websites and blogs. Information on various crafts can also be obtained from unofficial sources.
- Educational video lessons for children on You Tube. Today there are many channels that describe in detail all the steps for assembling crafts.
All master classes are freely available, which makes the work of inexperienced masters much easier.
Educational games
It has long been known that modern children learn fractions well using Lego cubes as an example. You just need to select a suitable part to represent the whole number, two smaller parts to demonstrate one second, one fourth.
It is convenient to teach children to put letters into syllables, and syllables into words. To do this, cubes of the same size but different colors are selected. You need to write letters on them with a marker - and the didactic material is ready. It is advisable to make several of the most popular letters.
Car with motor
For this craft you will need a construction set and a regular rubber band. According to your taste and style, assemble a car with wheels, and attach an elastic band to the axle. So, the car with its own engine is ready to go.
In addition to such original ideas, there are the most unusual: The Statue of Liberty. If you think that for this you will need a special expensive set, then you are mistaken, you need an ordinary construction set and incessant imagination.
Lego as a decor for liquid soap
Your favorite construction set will help persuade your child to wash their hands regularly. In a transparent container with liquid soap, the design parts look fascinating. To some, they even resemble fish in an aquarium.
All you need to do is buy a colorless transparent container and remove the stickers from it. Put the details inside, giving preference to bright ones.
It is better to hold the Lego parts in hot water for a while beforehand, this will remove dirt from them.

Unusual Christmas wreath
This wreath can be used to decorate the door to a children's room before Christmas. On the one hand, it will perfectly complement the atmosphere of the upcoming holiday, on the other hand, it will bring spontaneity to the child’s room.
How to make a Lego craft is described below:
- Cut a wide ring out of cardboard and cover it with foam rubber or other soft insulation.
- Drape it with fluffy green fabric to imitate pine needles.
- Attach red (or orange) and white Lego pieces using a glue gun.
- On the back side of the wreath, consider securely mounting it on the wall.
The wreath is ready.
New Year's buildings
Sometimes during the New Year holidays children want big decorations, which they don’t always have enough money for. Therefore, you can advise your child to put together a New Year’s composition.
Thus, his mood will definitely rise, and the room will be decorated with a new atmospheric detail. This could be a forest composition, with white snow flaunting on the fir trees, and a small bunny under the trees.
Or it could be a clearing with a family of snowmen. There are a lot of variations. And don’t forget to reward the little creator for his imagination and work done.
Vase made from designer parts
By finding many different types of parts, you can create an original and quite functional vase.
For the base you will need an old PET bottle with a wide neck or a regular glass. The sequence of actions is as follows:
- sort Lego elements by color and size;
- create a base-stand for a glass from flat parts;
- along the side parts of the stand, build up the walls of the vase, using parts of different colors;
- you can lay them out in rainbow order or put them together in a name/pattern.
LEGO Coding Activities for Kids STEM
Fun LEGO Computer Coding for Kids ! Today technology is a huge part of our lives. My son loves his iPad and although we monitor his use, it is part of our home. We also love LEGO games and enjoy building neat gizmos and gadgets with our bricks. We played around with a couple of fun ways to code with LEGO® with and without a computer.
FUN FOR KIDS LEGO CODING!
LEGO CODING FOR LEARNING
Computer coding with LEGO® is a great introduction to the world of coding using a favorite building toy. Yes, you can teach young children computer programming, especially if they have a keen interest in computers and how they work.
My son was amazed to learn that someone actually wrote/developed a Minecraft game. We even had to use an iPad to find out more about this guy. Realizing that my son could very well create his own game someday, he was very interested in learning more about computer coding.
How to combine computer coding and LEGO®?
There are several ways to integrate computer coding with LEGO® for youth or depending on skill level. My son is kindergarten age and he is also very eager to learn more at this time. You can experience the world of computer coding on and off the computer.

LEGO CODING GAMES
I was introduced to Bits and Bricks, an online computer programming game created by LEGO®. It is part of the Hour of Code initiative aimed at children aged 5 to 6 years old to get them excited about computer programming. Hour of Code is a global project that reaches millions of children. You can find many versions of Hour of Code to try. Of course, we LEGO® lovers had a blast with Bit the Bot.
BINARY ALPHABET
Our computers do not read the letter A the way we read the letter A. The computer has a special code called the binary alphabet, where each letter, both upper and lower case, is assigned a set of numbers containing ones and zeros.
My son first encountered this in school, but it was a senior class activity. He was curious, so I read about the binary alphabet and showed him how it worked. Mom also has a lot to learn! Made a computer coded Christmas decoration. You can also grab a base and LEGO® bricks and play with the binary alphabet.
1 = White 0 = Blue
CREATE MINI LEGO ROBOTS
LEGO coding doesn't have to be all about the computer. Grab a bin of LEGO® parts, including neat, super-tiny pieces, and see if you can make your own Bit the Bot from the bricks and bits mentioned above. Is it possible to make a robot out of LEGO bricks?

Night light made of transparent parts
If there are a lot of transparent parts, you can make a portable night light with your child for his room.
The parts are folded into a box, and an LED lighting source is placed inside. This night light has a wonderful ability - you can reassemble it every day, changing patterns, sizes and colors.
You can make a night light with a regular cartridge. In this case, be sure to ensure that the light bulb does not heat the homemade night light body.
buildings
Regardless of which construction set you purchased, you can build absolutely any structure. It’s worth moving away from the proposed instructions and using your imagination to come up with a house, mansion or penthouse.
For the base, a Lego table or a special green platform is used, which will serve as a wonderful yard or floor. If you connect two such platforms, you can separate them and look at the internal structure of your building.
The main element of this matter is the planning and design of the future building. The foundation is created using brick parts that can be used to lay out and divide all the rooms of the house. If the house is huge, make more rooms: bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, living room, study. You can add stairs, so a second floor will appear.
We are building walls, it is better not to put the parts in pillars, they may collapse, at the same time, do not forget about the windows. You can leave it empty, or you can use the special window parts that come in the kit. The number of layers of the wall depends only on the height of the building, so it’s up to you. When finished, build the walls inside the house, placing parts on top of each other.
Then move on to arranging the house itself, design tables, furniture, taps, appliances, etc. There are also ready-made items in Lego sets. In addition to the building itself, you can also create a vision of the garden, flower beds, fence and plants.
For the roof, the best option would be removable plates, this will allow you to remove it and observe the internal condition. You don’t have to fasten it, just put it on top.
Lego style decorations
From bright elements, needlewomen make original handmade Lego crafts in the form of jewelry - beads, earrings, pendants. Small round multi-colored details are well woven with beads in brooches and even paintings.
Schemes of Lego crafts are presented below. To create jewelry you will need:
- dense thread or wire;
- accessories (clasps, locks);
- beads and seed beads (preferably in neutral colors).
You need to make neat holes in the Lego pieces and string them, alternating with beads. The simplest version of the necklace is ready.
Christmas decorations
You can assemble many unique Christmas tree decorations from this construction set. Some Lego crafts in pictures are shown below. Santa Claus, Christmas trees, balls and hearts, animals and birds turn out to be somewhat abstract, but quite recognizable.

The big advantage of such toys is that they cannot be damaged. If a structure falls apart, then literally in a minute it is recreated or converted into a new one.
Holders and stands
Lightweight and portable stands help you store neatly and never lose:
- mobile phone and charger;
- remote controls for air conditioning, TV, lamps;
- gaming joysticks;
- shaving accessories.
For office supplies on your desktop, you can assemble a cup with compartments for paper clips, buttons and other small items.
Summarize
Agree, the process is fascinating. This means that not only children, but also parents, even grandparents, can become a Lego builder. Time flies by.
But most importantly, it is in these moments that the family unites. Everyone works together, consulting with each other, on a single project.
Flash drive update
You can make a unique and inimitable flash drive from several construction bricks. To do this you need:
- disassemble the flash drive and remove it from the old case;
- cut a hole in the Lego piece for the connector;
- insert a flash drive into it and fill it with glue;
- close with the second piece.
The flash drive cover is glued using the same principle. On the main body (optional) you can add airplane wings, a house roof, and more.
DIY Lego
My kids (like most children I know) are Lego fans. Of course, loving parents cannot refuse their children to buy another set, although most often the available parts are 90% sufficient to reproduce new models. And here one of the tricks of Legov’s marketers is revealed. Almost all Lego sets contain one or more unique pieces. And to pay, frankly, a rather high price for a small piece of plastic - no toad can stand that.
But we have a 3D printer and the only question is the model.
So, how can we make a printable model without knowledge of Sketchup/Solidworks etc.?
First, download LeoCAD - a convenient tool for virtual Lego modeling:
Next, go to LDraw.org and download the latest version of the parts library. We feed this library to LeoKad and look for the desired part in the list. In this case, we will try to make a rack 64448, a very convenient thing for building new structures: Next File->Export->Wavefront-> *.obj and save this part to your directory.
Open Autodesk Netfabb (I don’t give links, you know why, but everyone knows where to get it
