A couple of years ago I made an apple chopper using improvised materials. It didn’t suit me in every way, and primarily because of the materials used. And this summer a new one was made.

I used the same cutting disc from a Belarusian juicer-shredder, adding an adapter for attaching it to the shaft and blades.
