To maintain the temperature, I use frozen water in liter PET bottles. At the active fermentation stage, there are 2 bottles of ice (in the corners of the fermentation room). Change once or twice a day. We monitor the temperature you need! The first day the wort will actively absorb the cold, and even warm up from fermentation. After a couple of days it will stabilize. And to maintain the temperature (I usually have 18-19 degrees) you only need one bottle. I change it once a day. There may not be much condensation forming under the bottles. At the end of fermentation, wipe everything off if it is not dry. We disinfect with alcohol or your product.

I take a drop of new beer for the refractometer through the hole in the fermentation lid, removing the water seal, using a disposable plastic cocktail straw.

  1. A saline solution is prepared, then it is thickened with gelatin (glue).

To prepare, you will need a plastic container, 1 liter of water, 40 g of dry wallpaper glue. Step-by-step preparation:

  1. Combine water and dry mixture and stir well until a gel-like consistency is obtained.
  2. The solution is poured into a prepared container and frozen in the freezer.

The refrigerant will keep food in the thermal bag for up to 11 hours at temperatures below 0.

The approximate ratio of wallpaper glue and water to create a cold storage device is 4:100.

With gelatin

To create a gelatin refrigerant, prepare 4 liters of water, table salt, 10 g of gelatin, and a plastic container.

  1. Pour salt into 1 liter of water in a ratio of 10:3 and stir thoroughly. The sodium chloride should be completely dissolved.

Making a box frame

We make a drawing of the required size of the box and cut out the blanks strictly according to the square. Next, we apply silicone to the ends and assemble the structure. While the silicone has not hardened, it is possible to make adjustments. Afterwards, leave for a day for the silicone to completely set. Next, we cut out the outer skin from thin polystyrene foam and glue the overlapping seams on the sides with liquid acrylic nails.

Then we cut out the reinforcement for the bottom of the box from low-modulus carbon fiber and glue it to silicone.

We process the box with sandpaper and prime it with PVA.

How to use a cold accumulator for a thermal bag

Using ice makers is not difficult. Before use, the devices are placed in the freezer compartment. We glue a layer of foam plastic on the lid of the refrigerator so that the sheet of foam thermal insulation is completely immersed inside the box, and does not just cover the top plane. We attach the plywood cover to the piano furniture hinge using self-tapping screws.

This type of battery has a big drawback: the ice melts quickly, as a result of which the low temperature in the insulated bag does not last long. The best performance of a homemade invention can be achieved by adding salt or alcohol to the water.

So, the materials at hand needed to make a cold storage tank:

  1. plastic bottle;
  2. water;
  3. salt or alcohol.

The approximate ratio of the last two is 10:3 (for example, 100 g of water and 30 g of salt). The freezing point of such a liquid is about -20 degrees. If it does not freeze for a long time, you need to drain a little of the solution and add clean water.

The thermal conductivity of a concentrated aqueous salt solution is approximately 236 kJ/kg. This value is not a limit: it can be increased, but the freezing temperature of the composition will decrease.

If you add wallpaper glue or gelatin to the salt solution (the consistency of the solution should be similar to a gel), the resulting battery will melt more slowly compared to previous versions of the devices. For greater efficiency, homemade batteries should be placed at the bottom of the bag and on top of its contents. If necessary, you can additionally place them between products.

The composition of fillers in factory batteries is determined using special formulas. Therefore, the parameters of such devices differ significantly from home inventions. However, homemade batteries can be useful in cases where there is no factory-made device, but you need to travel and carry groceries or medicine.

Cold storage

Civilization develops best in the cold. It is unknown why, but this is how it happened historically. The southern hemisphere cannot boast of highly developed and technological countries, for the most part.

The northern regions, in this regard, are ahead of their neighbors, because in colder conditions:

In its simplest form, a cold accumulator is a plastic bottle filled with salted water. It is enough to place it in the freezer for a day, then take it out and put it in your thermal bag so that the food and drinks in there remain at a low temperature for as long as possible.

In this water (filler) you can dissolve:

  • Salt;
  • Isopropyl alcohol;
  • Glycerol;
  • Carboxymethylcellulose.

All this will increase the heat capacity of water - it will take longer to freeze and release heat more slowly. Those. will be able to cool longer what needs to be stored at low temperatures.

If you want a “frosty blue” color, just like in the store, add dye.

Cold storage batteries do not always meet the expectations of their owners, and why should there be any surprise? It's just a frozen container of liquid.

How to make a cold accumulator for a thermal bag

To make a refrigeration generator you will need a minimum of substances and items. One of the components can be used as a refrigerant:

Preparation of the water-salt solution will take a minimum of time. Sodium chloride dissolves in a small amount of water. Add as many crystals as can dissolve.

The mixture is then diluted with water and frozen in plastic containers or bottles. Why a large amount of salt is needed is the answer to the question in the following description.

Balun technology

In some cases, the Balun frame technology is used, which has some features:

  • first, the lower strapping belt is made;
  • stands made of bent or seamless profile are welded onto it;
  • An upper strapping belt is created on top of the racks, and crossbars are mounted above the door/window openings.

This technology is less material-intensive compared to the Platform. However, thick-walled rolled metal is used here to strengthen the frames of block containers intended for harsh operating conditions or placement of technological equipment. In the enclosing structures, the block container North contains the required amount of thermal insulation material for the specific climatic conditions of the region.

Coolers for insulated bags

The refrigerant of thermal bags (cold accumulator) will help preserve the desired freshness of food in an insulated bag on hot summer days. The storage unit itself will be required if you need to maintain a certain temperature for a long time, which exceeds the capabilities of the bag.

The thermal container itself can withstand temperatures for 2-3 hours. But if travel time is longer than this, food and drinks may spoil. During the trip, a coolant should be placed in the thermal bag, which will maintain the temperature even longer.

The undoubted advantages of a modified refrigerator for fishing

Taking into account the low price of the refrigerator and its simple modification (so that it serves the fisherman in autonomous mode), today there is no reasonable alternative to such a device. After all, even after turning off the power to the refrigerator compartment, its contents will remain frozen (remain cold) for a long time (according to my tests, if you do not open the lid, the accumulated negative temperature down to 0 ° C can remain for 12 hours or more).

What can you store? Bait, fish, crayfish (including live ones - to do this, fill the thermal chamber with water within reasonable limits), medicines, snow, ice and much more. The rotation noise of the refrigerator fan is low, which is also confirmed by a special test. I carried out the “noise test” using a special professional sound level meter DVM401, which showed a level of 71.2 dB when the microphone sensors directly approached the operating refrigerator fan (see photo 6). For comparison: the fan of my laptop makes approximately the same sound if this noise is recorded with the same device in the immediate vicinity of the noise source. Thus, for fishing and tourism this device can be considered quite acceptable.

Cold battery test

Tests carried out with freezing of plain water and saline solutions of different concentrations showed obvious results. The more sodium chloride is added, the longer the freezing process (up to 24 hours) and the slower the defrosting of the accumulating liquid occurs.

Testing the quality and freezing properties of domestically produced gel coolers showed positive results. After “charging” in the freezer at a temperature of -23 degrees, the substance crystallizes. This affects the duration of freezing.

Cold storage tanks differ in design features, type of refrigerant and its volume in a sealed container. These parameters must be taken into account when choosing a refrigeration device. The color of the refrigerant does not in any way affect the characteristics of the battery and does not carry a functional load, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer on the packaging.

Some factory cold storage batteries can not only be frozen, but also heated. The substance inside the container is capable of keeping food warm. When it is necessary to use a cold accumulator as a heater, it is charged in the microwave. The heating time should not exceed that specified by the manufacturer.

Heating in a microwave oven is only possible in the case of purchased drives, the manufacturer of which allows their use with heating.

Conditions for long-term operation of a fishing refrigerator

In order for a fishing refrigerator to serve for a long time and with high quality, you will need to, if possible, fulfill several simple conditions. Connection to the device must be made in compliance with polarity (+ and -). So the car refrigerator will serve the fisherman for an unlimited number of years. In order to preserve the cold in the thermal chamber even more, I recommend putting 2-3 sealed isothermal cold accumulators inside (flat flasks measuring 10x20 cm, with filler from any manufacturer), you can purchase them in the same stores for a symbolic price of 150-200 rubles.

Thermal bag with foil

Most often, this option is used to preserve chilled food in particularly hot weather. The reflective ability of the foil protects against sunlight and reduces its effect on the temperature inside the device.
