Crochet moccasins: master class in boho style

In recent years, there has been a real boom, and shoes made by hand from coarse threads have become a fashion trend for the spring-summer season. As a visual example, we present the magnificent work of experienced needlewoman Nadezhda Severyukhina. She came up with a chic boho set of a sundress and a handbag, and underneath it she created crocheted moccasins with flat soles. A master class from the author of homemade shoes will help novice craftswomen gain inspiration and create their own exclusive knitted pair.

To work, you will need soft rubber soles with a side, 100 g of thick linen yarn, a hook No. 1.5-1.75, pieces of lace and wooden buttons.

To begin with, the needlewoman knitted a simple cord equal to the diameter of the foot, and using a needle and thread, carefully sewed it on the inside of the sole. Next, using linen yarn in 2 folds, I began to tie the lace in a circle with simple double crochets.

After 5-6 rows, the side of the moccasins reached the desired height, and the craftsman moved on to making the tongue. She knitted a small triangular piece, which she decorated with lace and attached to the front of the shoes with an invisible seam.

Additional embellishments include long track cords and matching wooden buttons. The shoes turned out to be truly stylish and fashionable; you can wear them, as they say, both at the feast and in the world!

Manufacturing options

Women's and men's crocheted moccasins can be made from yarn of any color, and it will not be difficult for an experienced needlewoman to create any model she likes. There are many options for making crocheted shoes. Depending on the purpose, all products are divided into two main types:

  1. For home. These knitted moccasins have a soft sole made of felt, yarn or leather. They are most often intended for small children or adults instead of indoor slippers.
  2. Street. This type of shoe is made with polyurethane or thermorubber soles.

In branded shoe departments you can find stylish models, the design of which imitates openwork or regular knitting. An experienced needlewoman can easily make the same ones without paying extra money for the brand. But in order for the future product to turn out to be of high quality and neat, all its details must first be worked out, and for this, first of all, you need to decide on the style. For example, men's crocheted moccasins are usually made of thick thread, one or several calm shades (gray, beige). Women's can be openwork using various techniques. Children's ones are most often supplemented with lacing or a button so that the leg is tightly fixed.

A combination of various methods is acceptable; it will even be unusual and unique. For example, against the general background of dense knitting with single crochets, trim from openwork or small floral motifs looks great. In this case, structural elements can be flat or three-dimensional. If you want to add tenderness and romance to the product, it is recommended to decorate the toe area with small lace.

When choosing a material for the base, it is better to give preference to rubber. It is more wear-resistant and durable. The disadvantage of this material is its higher cost. It is more difficult to pierce thermal rubber compared to polyurethane, so when making markings for stitching, it is recommended to use a sharp and durable awl.

Crocheted moccasin slippers for the house can be sewn to a felt outsole or made yourself from the same yarn as the product itself. This sole is warm, comfortable, very comfortable, and environmentally friendly. The disadvantage is the inability to wear shoes outside, especially in damp, rainy weather. A rubber sole will be too heavy for a small child, so for kids it is better to use lighter materials - polyurethane, felt, leather. It is also necessary to take into account that when knitting, shoes are not as dense as crocheting. To give the product greater rigidity, it is recommended to use a ready-made sole. In addition, if the craftswoman does not know how to work with a crochet hook, the top can be sewn to the finished base without any problems with a large needle.

The First Moccasins of the Indians

Initially, they were made from animal skins, protecting feet from sharp rock ledges, sharp cacti, and the bites of poisonous snakes and insects.

Moccasins - shoes with a really long history

A little later, in the early 30s of the 20th century, such shoes captivated the colonists with their originality and practicality, smoothly migrating from the prairies to the cities.

Originally, moccasins were the footwear of North American Indians.

With a confident gait, moccasins gradually gained popularity in Europe. Fashionistas from France and Italy were the first to gladly change their tight and uncomfortable shoes, preferring incredibly comfortable moccasins.

Crochet women's moccasins: knitting with video tutorial

What to give to work colleagues and girlfriends for the spring holiday on March 8? An excellent gift - original women's moccasins, crocheted. A master class with photos and a visual video will help you decide on the style of shoes and the color of fashionable yarn.

For bright women's moccasins, wool or acrylic in purple, terracotta and light green shades are suitable. The yarn consumption is no more than 100 g, and it is better to take a thin hook - No. 2-2.5.

First, a central chain of air loops is assembled and an oval sole is made in circular rows to the width of the foot. Next, rows are knitted without increments to the desired height of the side border.

To ensure that the heel fits well and does not slip when walking, it is necessary to make short rows on the back half of the shoe. It turns out to be a kind of boat that will fit perfectly on a delicate female leg.

Separately, you need to knit two main parts - multi-colored tongues. They will become the main decoration of moccasins, and here the needlewoman’s imagination can run wild!

The finished tabs are carefully sewn onto the main parts, and an excellent gift for a friend on March 8 will be waiting for its finest hour.

For the attention of needlewomen, there is a wonderful series of short master classes on knitting carpet moccasins. An experienced craftswoman will tell you in detail how to make the sole, colored tongue, side part and heel of luxurious house slippers.

In such shoes, every woman will feel like a real princess Scheherazade in the palace of the eastern sultan! As a bonus, another video tutorial on knitting slippers - moccasins using the original technique of making one solid piece.

How to choose yarn and hook?

What yarn is your favorite for slippers? Here you need to understand the difference between outdoor slippers and indoor slippers. Since for the street the master will not insulate them much, but, on the contrary, will choose the yarn that is most resistant to moisture.

Cotton thread satisfies these qualities. But when knitting from thin iris you will need several threads at once. As a result, the threads will delaminate and this is not always convenient for the master and a lot of time will be spent on it. It is better to immediately use a thick cotton thread.

House slippers are pekhorka or something else soft. Craftsmen give particular preference to special sock yarn; it is warm and comfortable to work with, and will also last a very long time. The hook for any of the products is most often selected according to the thickness of the thread. But the tool itself should be comfortable in the master’s hand, and therefore preference is given to hooks with a concave center for the fingers.

Children's moccasins with "Teddy Bear" appliqué

What can make a baby happy? Of course, cute children's shoes look like a kind, smiling toy.

To create such magnificent shoes you will need leftover high-quality acrylic yarn, a No. 2.5 hook and small children's accessories. Work begins with knitting a sole of the required size; for this, 10 or 15 air loops are cast on according to pattern No. 1 and 3 circular rows are performed.

Next, the side parts are knitted according to pattern No. 2. For the right and left shoes, 4 rows of side panels are knitted and the short straps of future cute fasteners are arranged in a mirror manner.

According to scheme No. 3, the head of the bear cub and its white muzzle are made. The details are carefully sewn onto the moccasins and decorated with embroidery, beady eyes and an elegant bow tie.

A simple shoe knitting pattern can serve as the basis for creating a variety of characters. Handicraft mothers knit cute piglets, hares, hippos and even tigers for their children. The imagination of craftswomen is rich and limitless!

What kind of slippers can be crocheted?

Slippers are knitted in different patterns in the form:

  • wide socks;
  • footwear and ballet shoes;
  • flip flop and flip flops.

You can make indoor shoes with soles, in a seamless way, in the form of sneakers or toys. Knitted slippers are soft, fit well on the foot, and fit tightly. At the same time, the material allows air to pass through and retains heat. It is also convenient to wash these shoes in the washing machine.

Crocheted knitted slippers (it’s better to print out patterns and descriptions for them so that you can check the pattern at any time) are dense and do not stretch well, so the size should be selected accurately and the number of loops carefully calculated.

Homemade moccasins - footprints: let women's legs be warm

The French handicraft magazine “Crochet Creations” proposed an original idea for knitting indoor moccasins for women. The main highlight of the model is bright raspberry fuchsia surrounded by orange openwork paths.

The scheme of creative work comes down to the implementation of a dense sole, a central floral motif and light side details. Using hook No. 3 from an acrylic ball, a chain of 55 air loops is cast on. Next, according to pattern No. 1, the sole is knitted, and after 10 rows the work smoothly transitions into openwork knitting pattern No. 2. The flowers are made separately from a ball of a different color, and as the knitting progresses they are included in the overall design of the women's shoe.

It is advisable to wash and dry the finished shoes on a special form, then the shoes will acquire a neat, smoothed and finished look. The result will be real French shoes that you can wear at home and take with you on a visit to show off your gorgeous fashionable moccasins.

Description of work

Sock

Outer sock

We start knitting from the base of the triangle. We collect 15 VP.

1 row.

3 runways, in the fourth loop from the hook we knit a lush stitch: it consists of knitted 3 runways and two double crochets, knitted halfway. Then we knit 3 loops on the hook in one step. We get the first lush column with a common top. Next, in each row we knit the first lush column in exactly this way. Then we knit ** 1 VP, skip one loop of the previous row, and in the next loop we knit a fluffy column of 3 DCs with a common top**. We repeat the pattern between the stars so that there are 8 lush columns in a row. In the last loop of the PS we change the color of the yarn, but do not cut off the working thread of the first row.

2nd row.

2 runways. We knit the lush columns in this row between the PS of the first row, inserting a hook under 1 VP. After each lush column we knit 1 VP. Lush columns are arranged in a checkerboard pattern.

3rd row.

Change the yarn color to orange. And we knit 6 lush stitches in this row.

4 row.

We pick up the dark green thread again and knit 5 lush stitches.

5 row.

We knit four lush columns with a light green thread. At the end of the row, cut off the light green thread and move on to the orange thread.

6th row.

We knit three lush columns with orange thread. And we switch to a dark green thread. In total, for this size, seven rows should be knitted and in the last row two lush columns.

Sides

When the triangle is ready, you can start knitting the sides. Insert a hook on the right side of the triangle, pick up the thread and knit 35 VP. The number of loops depends on the size of the leg and the thickness of the yarn and hook, but in any case it should be odd. We attach a chain of air loops to the second side of the triangle with a connecting loop.

1 row.

We knit the sides with double crochets. We knit 2 runways, we knit the first double crochet into the loop from which the lifting loops were knitted. We knit 35 dc on a chain of chain stitches.

We lay the loose “tails” of the cut threads along the row and knit them into the fabric. When we reach the top of the triangle, we knit 3 dc from the side of the row, 3 dc in the arch between the lush columns, 3 dc on the other side of the row.

We continue to knit 3 dcs on each side of the row. When we knit the third stitch of the last side, we knit only the yarn over, then insert the hook into the first double crochet at the beginning of the row and change the color of the yarn to orange.

2nd row.

2 runways and 1 dc in the same loop. Next, we knit double crochets into each stitch of the previous row.

In the toe part we also knit without any additions.

3rd row.

Introducing a third color. 2 runways and 1 dc in the same loop. Don’t forget to tie the free ends of the thread into the fabric so that the reverse side is clean.

In the toe part we knit without any additions. We do not cut off the dark green thread.

The side is connected. Fold the workpiece in half, find the middle of the back and toe.

Using a marker or thread of a contrasting color, mark the center of the heel and toe.

Sole.

We begin knitting from the place where we finished knitting the side.

1 row.

2 runways and knit with double crochets until the middle of the back, marked with a contrasting thread. We knit 3 dcs with a common top: in each column we knit a loop with a crochet.

We knit 4 loops on the hook in one step.

In the toe part, we also knit the central three columns with a fluffy column with a common top.

We knit the row to the end with double crochets. We close the row with a connecting loop into the second lifting loop. This is the first row of the sole. We knit rows 2, 3 and 4 as the first.

We cut the thread and fasten it.

Let's take a tapestry needle. Having secured the thread at the beginning of the row, we begin to sew the workpiece with a seam over the edge. We grab both parts of each loop with a needle.

almost ready.

All that remains is to tie it up. We introduce the working thread, knit 1 runway and tie the upper part with single crochets.

We tie the base of the triangle in this way: we knit one sc at the top of the fluffy column, we knit the next sc under 1 ch.

We change the color of the thread and knit the final row in a crawfish step.

We knit the second slipper in the same way.

The moccasin slippers are ready.
