Some recommendations

For better and reliable fixation of the bed when folded, you can use a decorative latch attached to the top of the bottom. Then you will definitely protect yourself from spontaneous unfolding of the bed.

When folded, linen and mattress can slide off the bed; to secure them, use 30 mm wide straps on both sides of the bed and fasten them with Velcro before lifting the bed.

Making a bed with your own hands is not difficult, if you have all the necessary materials and accurate drawings of the future product. Since everyone makes a bed to suit the size of their mattress, the final calculations may differ slightly from these figures.

Accessories for comfortable fishing

Beginning fishermen who are going to fish without leaving the lake for several days make many mistakes. For successful fishing and creating comfortable conditions, you should do the following:

  • prepare warm clothes: pants, jacket, hat, mittens, socks, as well as the fabric of underwear should be thick,
  • choose waterproof boots,
  • you need to be careful when choosing a winter tent, you shouldn’t waste money on it,
  • a fishing folding bed and a folding chair are purchased,
  • mini table for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Also, do not forget about additional accessories: a flashlight, a lighter, and so on. Then fishing will become not only successful, but also comfortable.

Rules for choosing winter “furniture”

An ordinary folding chair is only suitable for summer fishing, but in winter you cannot sit on such a product for a long time. For this purpose, only furniture that is suitable for the season is selected. Such accessories can be purchased at a fishing store. But if no one sells a similar product at your place of residence, then you can buy it online. In the second case, specialized websites always offer a wide range of products at competitive prices. Therefore, there should be no problems with the purchase.

Some users of fishing equipment are confident that the more expensive the product, the better quality it will be, but in practice everything turns out differently. It is recommended to purchase devices only at average prices. They are superior in quality to cheap accessories and are not inferior to expensive accessories. What factors distinguish winter furniture from summer options:

  1. Frost-resistant materials are used to make winter furniture.
  2. The fabric has a special effect, and if you are on a special chair in severe frosty weather, you can sit for a long time, since the fabric has heat-retaining properties.
  3. Such furniture is highly durable, because manufacturers took into account the fact that fishermen dress in warm, thick clothes in winter; therefore, the chair must withstand additional weight.

Therefore, when making furniture, manufacturers are attentive to the requirements of customers.

Nuances when choosing a folding bed

A winter cot for sleeping is a little different from those models that can be seen in a country house. A number of differences between the clamshell for winter fishing:

  • Such structures are made of reliable and durable material,
  • the product weighs a little more,
  • when purchasing a camping bed, it comes with a special cover that will protect the fisherman from severe frosts,
  • The material of the lounger will not allow moisture to pass through and will retain heat, and this ensures a good sleep.

Another equally important factor is transportation. The winter lounger looks quite large, but it can be folded in a couple of minutes. When folded, the clamshell acquires such dimensions that it will not be difficult to place the product in the trunk of a car. And the items that come with the folding bed are light in weight, so there will be no problems carrying the product. In addition, so that the structure does not interfere with the house, it can be folded and placed under a cabinet or other furniture. When purchasing a product, you need to pay attention to the following nuances:

  1. The folding bed must be checked for assembly and disassembly so that the latches can safely hold the product in any position.
  2. When purchasing, you should use the instructions, which indicate the permissible weight the fabric can withstand. If you do not follow the recommendations, the product will soon become unusable.
  3. To prevent the woven fabric of the folding bed from stretching and tearing, it is recommended to add 25 kg to your own weight. That is, if a fisherman weighs 75 kg, then the design that can withstand 100 kg is selected.
  4. It is necessary to feel the fabric on the structure. It should not be pressed through too much and should be free of defects. If you are not confident in the product offered, then it is better not to buy.

Naturally, these were recommendations that only apply when purchasing in specialized stores, and to purchase a product online, you should carefully study the reviews about the product on the website. It is also advisable to visit the forums for additional information.

GREENHOUSE CONSTRUCTION – ACCORDING TO ANY REQUEST

But how can we make the design universal, i.e. capable of covering plants of any height? To do this, I drilled three holes on each side at the base of the frame (two at the edges and one in the middle) with a drill with a diameter of 7 mm and inserted legs 55 cm long, made of rolled wire with a diameter of 6 mm, into them. For safety, I rounded their ends with sandpaper, bending one of them one at a time in a vice in the shape of the letter “L” (the length of these processes was about 3-5 mm). After that, I inserted the legs into the drilled holes from the inside until they stop and bent them at an angle of 90°.

Now it is enough to lift the clamshell-greenhouse with one hand by the middle of the slats (at this time all the legs themselves go down and take a vertical position), smoothly lower it down onto the bed and press lightly. The legs will go into the ground, and the greenhouse will take the position you need.

Photo 1 shows two such greenhouses without shelters: one of them (the closest one) simply lies on the ground, the other stands on legs (by the way, it is very convenient to attach non-woven material to them with ordinary clothespins). In addition, such legs make it possible to cover plants up to 60 cm high. If I need an even greater height, I use tubes of the required length of any diameter, which I drive into the ground along the border of the bed and insert the legs of the greenhouse into them until they stop.

Well, now about expanding the scope of use of greenhouses. In April, when it is still cold outside, I plant radishes in a greenhouse, put a cot and cover it, depending on the weather, with non-fabric or film (or both at the same time). I grow cabbage seedlings in the same way. It is very convenient to sprout potatoes. The results are excellent. Tomatoes and cucumbers also periodically have a place in portable greenhouses. The technology for growing these crops is a separate topic, and I will devote another letter to it.

Thus, for me, cots are not just greenhouses, but components of an entire technology for growing plants. After all, each of them manages to visit several beds during the summer season (photo 2). Considering that I have two folding beds, I can use them in different configurations. For example, if the length of the bed is 3 m, I place one folding bed and one arc 1 m from it, connecting them with one piece of stretched covering material. If the bed is five meters long, I put two folding beds. If the length of the bed is more than 6 m, then I place both folding beds along its edges, and arcs between them. Everything is fast and very convenient.

Types of folding beds

It should be noted that folding beds come in different types:

  1. French. The design consists of 3 parts, like an orthopedic lattice. It also includes a mattress and foam rubber, the thickness of which is 6-10 cm. It does not have folding headrests. Such models are usually made of steel.

It should be noted that folding beds come in different types.

2. American. Retracts in two folds and bends in half. This folding bed is equipped with a spring block and a reliable mechanism. The headrests “retract” into the backrest when the folding bed needs to be removed.

3. Italian. Consists of two parts. The mattress, as a rule, has a width ranging from 14 to 18 cm. This is a bed of increased comfort. The system has an orthopedic grille, belts and a metal mesh.

For self-production, options consisting of two sections are more suitable.

For self-production, options consisting of two sections are more suitable. You just need to purchase the mattress separately. It is fixed using special fasteners or simple Velcro. The last option is more convenient. This bed can withstand a load of up to 150 kg.

Self-made furniture: what is the advantage and why is it so relevant today?

Furniture that you make yourself, as well as interior items and everyday things, fit harmoniously into the overall atmosphere of your home or life. In addition, any activity, including handicrafts, has a lot of positive aspects that you should always remember and pay attention to.

  • Do-it-yourself things and objects have a huge number of significant advantages, which include the following nuances:
  • The item is created in accordance with individual measurements and necessary parameters.
  • Confidence in the reliability and safety of the material as it is chosen independently, which eliminates the content of toxic substances not specified by the manufacturer in the composition on the packaging.
  • Art associated with the design and decoration of homemade objects promotes the development of thinking and also improves fine motor skills. Labor done by hand cultivates accuracy, patience and perseverance in a person.
  • There is an opportunity to earn extra money by completing custom projects. There is such a thing as a handmade freelancer who can work from anywhere in the world and send finished work via mail.
  • By involving your child in work, you can develop his communication skills and increase his self-confidence.
  • Self-assembly of products promotes the development of creative skills and develops personality in every possible way. Such work does not get boring and almost never turns into a routine.

Naturally, there are also disadvantages to working on creating products yourself - the cost of raw materials. Sometimes, they can be expensive, which undoubtedly puts a strain on the family budget. In addition, you should prepare for the time investment and show a high degree of perseverance and patience.

So, you need to start making a folding bed with your own hands from the drawings. After all, a do-it-yourself folding bed, the drawings of which are not drawn up or are not prepared according to the rules, will be unsuitable for full use. First make calculations and then start assembling the structure. The sequence of actions here is as follows.

  • The materials you will first need are two load-bearing boards corresponding to the length of the mattress.
  • Depending on its dimensions, it is necessary to cut boards of the appropriate length. These are the future “boards”. Note that the cross bars should be slightly longer than the width of the mattress. They need to be connected to the load-bearing ones using self-tapping screws.
  • Then you need to connect the back wall.
  • Next, a shelf is made where the base is attached. The shelf must be secured inside the box using supports.
  • Then you need to make a box for the mattress with your own hands. This will be a frame with approximate dimensions of 100x1450x1980 mm. It will need to be attached in the middle of the bottom. For production you will need 2 side and 2 end boards. You need to make folds in advance using self-tapping screws. Afterwards the frame is assembled and the bottom is nailed from a sheet of plywood.

Structures made from such materials last a long time and look attractive.

After all the above operations, done with your own hands, you can begin to make supports. When extending the bed, it is necessary to install supports made of timber with a section of 40 by 100 mm. Using prepared loops, the supports must be attached to the bottom. Next, you need to let the parts dry thoroughly. The folding/unfolding mechanism is chosen at your personal discretion.

It is easy to work with such raw materials even for an inexperienced craftsman.

It is recommended to use a decorative latch for the best fixation of the stock when closed.

At the final stage, it is advisable to decorate the product, since “naked” it will not look as attractive as we would like. For this purpose, you can use blinds that can cover the timber supports. You can also make sliding supports. This is an alternative option.

A do-it-yourself wooden cot is much more profitable than a metal version, since the former is more environmentally friendly and retains heat better.

It is recommended to use a decorative latch for the best fixation of the stock when closed. In this way, you can protect yourself from arbitrarily unfolding the bed, because it is dangerous and uncomfortable to sleep on such a bed. In view of this feature, it is necessary to ensure in advance that the folding/unfolding mechanism works properly.

When everything is collected, you can start working.

Often those who build a bed on their own from materials such as MDF worry that when the bed linen and mattress are unfolded, they will slide off. You need to stock up on 30mm wide straps on both sides for fixation. Before lifting the bed, you should fasten the Velcro.

So, you need to start making a folding bed with your own hands from the drawings.

The folding/unfolding mechanism is chosen at your personal discretion.

If desired, the finished folding bed, made by yourself, can be originally painted or decorated with decorative items. It is only important that the bed matches the interior design. If the room is in a minimalist style, then the folding bed should contain elements of this style.

First make calculations and then start assembling the structure.

After all the operations performed with your own hands, you can begin to make supports.

As you can see, building a bed for sleeping with your own hands is not as difficult as it might seem. A folding bed made by yourself will delight you for many years if all the rules and nuances were taken into account during creation.

Depending on its dimensions, it is necessary to cut boards of the appropriate length.

Such a product can be built for a bedroom or for a room in the country, replacing an old and non-functional sofa. The main thing is to approach work responsibly and follow the sequence of actions. Then it will be possible to produce a durable, durable product. If desired, you can use ready-made sketches, according to which it is much easier and more convenient to build a bed. The most important thing is that the structure fits freely in the room, looks functional, and presentable.

Then you need to make a box for the mattress with your own hands.

The final stage is decoration

The facade of the final product is often decorated with false doors - an overhead element that is part of the decoration, onto which handles are attached. Do not use mirrors in such beds under any circumstances, as they are not designed for such loads and may soon crack.

Even the simplest folding bed design can fit into any room interior.

This will also affect the weight of the structure being lifted, which may affect the durability of the mechanism. Be sure to install the legs into the pre-drilled holes and magnetic latches. Now the work is completed, and the new decoration of your interior is completely ready for your relaxation.

A single folding bed can be installed in the front room, and no one outside will even think about its presence, since it will be disguised as a closet.

Which transformation mechanism is better?

When choosing a transformation mechanism, you should first of all proceed from the intensity of use of your bed. To turn the sofa into a bed, they can answer:

  • soft;
  • shock absorbers (closers);
  • bearings, mechanical elements.

The first step is to make a frame for the cabinet, which will be firmly fixed to the wall.
The spring mechanism has the problem of stretching with frequent use, and the metallic sound of the working springs is not the most pleasant.

Decide on the mechanism for lowering the wardrobe bed.

Gas shock absorbers (they are also called gas lifts, less often - door closers) do an excellent job, but they can also fail, so when using them, it is recommended to provide for the possibility of unhindered replacement.

Everyone chooses for themselves the mechanism for lowering the bed-wardrobe.

Bearings are used less frequently than any other option due to the specific nature of the design transformation. This is due to the fact that the bearing is not responsible for the smooth development, that is, each time you have to manually lift the entire mechanism yourself.

Over the course of several years, the gas will gradually be released from the rack, after which the rack or the entire mechanism will need to be replaced.
