What are the benefits of orange juice?

Unlike whole citrus fruits, natural fresh fruit ensures rapid absorption by the body of the biologically active substances included in its composition, which increases its benefits for the body.

The abundance of iron makes it an effective remedy against anemia. Carotenoids, represented by β-carotene and lutein, have a beneficial effect on the skin and organs of vision. Flavonoids in the form of hesperedin and narirutin strengthen the immune system, counteract aging, and together with vitamin C reduce the risk of malignant tumors. The natural drink prevents colds and infections, as well as:

  • improves intestinal peristalsis and the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • increases appetite, relieves heartburn;
  • frees the body from waste and toxins;
  • relieves inflammation;
  • helps cleanse the liver and kidneys;
  • activates brain activity

Thanks to fructose, which replaces sugar, the drink is available to diabetics, and the presence of free carbohydrates makes it valuable for fitness activities.

Oranges growing in the tropics are characterized by a green color. Fruits acquire their usual orange peel color through the destruction of chlorophyll.

How to make orange juice at home yourself

Store-bought juice can hardly be called fresh, since the products used in it undergo processing that reduces the percentage of sucrose and dietary fiber. Preservatives and additives that improve taste, presentation, and also increase shelf life do little to benefit the product. The drink, which corresponds to the name “fresh”, is prepared independently from fresh, natural ingredients. On average, about 80–100 g of juice is obtained from 1 orange, which is determined by the size, type of citrus fruit, and its ripeness. Before you squeeze the juice out of an orange, you can familiarize yourself with several recipes that will allow you to get the maximum benefit from the drink.

  • lemon juice (lemon) – 3 tbsp. l.;
  • sugar (sand) – 1 tbsp.;
  • boiled water – 2–3 l.

  2. The cake, sugar, orange and lemon juices are mixed in a large bowl using a blender.
  3. The peel is passed through a grater and combined with the orange mass.
  4. The mixture is poured with water (1.5 l) and infused for an hour.
  5. The infused drink is filtered using a fine sieve or gauze folded in several layers.

The remaining pulp can be used again by filling it with a liter of water with dissolved sugar and then infusing it.

  • Harm and contraindications

    Freshly squeezed orange juice is a powerful allergen, which, in case of individual intolerance to citrus fruits, causes irritation and other negative reactions of the body. The drink is contraindicated for:

    • kidney stones and cholelithiasis;
    • pancreatitis, other pathologies associated with the pancreas;
    • ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract;
    • cystitis
    • during lactation.

    The use of juice during diabetes, pregnancy, as well as acute and chronic diseases should be monitored by a doctor. The benefits and harms of orange juice are often associated with the same components, and manifest themselves depending on the consumer’s condition. In case of negative reactions of the body, especially children, the product is excluded from the diet.

    Recommendations for choosing fruits

    Small citrus fruits are ideal for making juice. You can use Moroccan - this is a variety of heavy and juicy fruit with a thin peel. They taste sweet and are resistant to damage and temperature changes. In appearance they are very similar to the Valencia variety; they differ from ordinary oranges in the complete absence of seeds. They have a distinct bright smell, an atypical reddish color, and when lightly pressed, the skin of the fruit springs slightly. For clogging, choose elastic fruits of a uniform color without visible damage.

    Whichever method of preparing orange juice you choose, you will definitely need professional utensils for bars and restaurants https://posuda-bar.ru
